WNBL1 preview: 15/16 February 2025 - live streams, stats and more

After matching each other step for step in recent weeks, two of D1W's leaders collide this weekend.

CoLA's trip to Endeavour Ipswich Basketball highlights a five-strong field of games, with fellow front runners Brent Bulls also in action.

We take a look at all the weekend's match-ups below, with links to live stats at the bottom of the page.

Endeavour Ipswich Basketball (12-3) vs CoLA Southwark Pride (12-2)

Title challengers Endeavour Ipswich Basketball and CoLA Southwark Pride lock horns on Saturday.

It's the latest instalment of the long-standing rivalry between the two sides as they've continued to dominate the women's game in recent years. And as is often the case in contests between the pair, the stakes are high in this one.

Not quite as high as when they met in last season's Playoff Final, a game CoLA won 72-56, but this weekend's contest could go a long way towards splitting the pair at season's end, with Brent also heavily involved in the race at the top.

The advantage in the season series currently lies with Pride following November's 77-55 victory in London, with Debra Wilson-Osuide's 19 points doing the damage for CoLA that day.

Ipswich were out rebounded 54-38 in that contest, giving up 23 second chance points in the process. That provides a clear area of improvement in this weekend's return leg, with Ipswich's standout forward Louisa Gibbins an important player in that regard.

The former Bristol product was quite last time the teams met, clocking up just seven points and five rebounds, far lower than her impressive 12.6PPG, 10.5RPG averages on the season as a whole.

Gibbins, Harriet Welham (23.3PPG, 8.5RPG) and Maddy Wormald (15.2PPG, 10.7RPG) will all be hoping to help the Suffolk team get revenge, but it won't be easy.

Ayla Habbal (16.3PPG, 4.3APG) and Adaora Dioramma (11.7PPG, 8.4RPG) have both excelled this season, whilst 25-year-old Chandera Jones-Aryeh (9.3PPG, 5.0APG) continues to provide valuable experience alongside Pride's youthful core.

It's a familiar story over recent years, but it's always true. This really is one of the premium match-ups in the basketball calendar, and no fan will want to miss another chapter in the Ipswich-CoLA rivalry.

Elsewhere this weekend

The weekend begins with Barking Abbey (2-12) trying to build on last weekend's victory against Cobham with another win, this time against Loughborough Riders (8-6).

In the thick of the playoff mix, the Riders will be a tough nut to crack, but BA have nothing to lose with time running out in their battle against D1W relegation.

Anglia Ruskin University's (9-7) recent losses against Brent and Ipswich have allowed the chasing pack to close in on a top four spot. The Cambridge outfit can tighten their grip on that place this weekend as they host Cobham Cobras (6-10), who are locked in a three-way battle for eighth right now.

Saturday's final game sees Brent Bulls (12-2) trying to take advantage of the Ipswich CoLA contest as they head North to take on Manchester Mystics (7-9).

Ipswich scraped through in the North West last weekend and the Bulls be hoping for a better time of things if they're to take advantage of one of their rivals being guaranteed to drop points this weekend.

Sunday contains just the one game, with Reading Rockets (1-14) hosting Worcester Wolves (6-8).

The Rockets can no doubt feel hard done to in recent weeks, having lost four of their five games in 2025 by single digits.

There's no time for sentiment for the Wolves though, they need a win to keep their playoff push on track.

London's Saturday clash against Bristol Academy Flyers was a late postponement on Friday afternoon after an issue with the basket equipment was discovered.
