WNBL1 preview: 22/23 March 2025 - live streams, stats and more

It's crunch time in D1W, with just two weekends remaining for the 2024/25 regular season.

After nine games a week ago, another eight contests squeeze into the next few days, highlighted by a double-header for title-chasing Brent Bulls and a key home tie for rivals CoLA Southwark Pride.

We take a look at all the weekend's match-ups below, with links to live stats at the bottom of the page.

CoLA Southwark Pride (17-3) vs Manchester Mystics (12-9)

CoLA enter their penultimate game of the season with their destiny firmly in their own hands.

Hosting Manchester Mystics, winners of five in a row and playing the last game of their schedule, CoLA need to win to set up a potential showdown with Brent on the final day of the regular season.

62-49 victors when the sides met in the North West last December, Pride will be confident of doing the double over the fifth-place Mystics.

That said, Coach Fairley's outfit did hand CoLA a WEABL semi-final defeat a few weeks ago. That game was played in Manchester, and the rosters do have some differences between WEABL and WNBL, but with the bulk of both sides playing in the two competitions, it's bound to have some impact this weekend.

One player who is on CoLA's D1W roster but not WEABL eligible is 25-year-old Chandera Jones-Aryeh. Sitting seventh in the league's efficiency rankings, her influence can't be overstated, and her well-rounded 9.5PPG, 6.5RPG, 5.2APG and 3.4SPG allows her to fulfil a number of roles for Coach Gibbons' programme.

Jones-Aryeh's numbers aren't dissimilar to Manchester's young star Irene Oboavwoduo, who's 11.0PPG, 7.5RPG, 2.4APG and 2.2SPG splits have already put her on the track to becoming one of the WNBL's top prospects.

The battle between the duo to start the weekend is sure to be a great viewing, even if CoLA have much more on the line in this one than Manchester do.

Elsewhere this weekend

Keeping an eye on proceedings between CoLA and Manchester are Endeavour Ipswich Basketball (17-4), who still have an outside shot at retaining their regular-season crown. Coach Drane's side travel to Loughborough Riders (10-9), who are still fighting to stay above Bristol in the battle for sixth and seventh.

Speaking of which, the Flyers (10-10) are in double-header action to end their season, travelling to take on Barking Abbey (4-16) on Saturday before an away date with London Cavaliers (6-12) 24 hours later.

Barking must win their last two games and hope Cobham lose their final game, a tall order but not impossible.

Cobham Cobras (6-15) are away in the final game of their debut D1W season, taking on a London Cavaliers (6-12) that can still play spoiler and have a a big impact on a few different races this weekend.

Anglia Ruskin University (13-8) can't be caught by Manchester in fourth and have little on the line in their final action of the regular season, but a momentum boost would always be welcome as they host Worcester Wolves (9-11), who are still scrapping for playoff seedings.

That just leaves a double-header for Brent Bulls (14-4), with the title hopefuls travelling to Reading Rockets (2-19) on Saturday before a home game against cross-town rivals Barking Abbey on Sunday.

Brent still have a few different routes to top spot, but all of them involve winning out from here, making this weekend's double a valuable one if they're to continue their charge for D1W's summit.
