WNBL1 recap: 1/2 February 2025 - live streams, stats and more

The top of D1W is shared by three teams, with CoLA, Ipswich and Brent all picking up points this weekend.

Brent grabbed wins against Barking and Loughborough, with CoLA seeing off London Cavaliers and Ipswich getting the best of Reading to keep all three sides firmly in the title race.

We take a look back at all the weekend's match-ups below, with links to live stats at the bottom of the page.

Bristol Academy Flyers (8-7) 66-59 Cobham Cobras (6-9)

Bristol Academy Flyers used a 29-14 opening quarter to give them the platform needed to beat Cobham 66-59.

The early burst would give the hosts their biggest lead of the game at 16 points, before the Cobras set about trying to reduce the deficit.

Three points was as close as the teams would come, in both the third and the fourth quarters, with Bristol eventually leading from tip to buzzer for their eighth win of the campaign.

Samantha Roscoe (18pts, 10reb) played a great game to lead the Flyers, with useful contributions coming from Marlee Ball (14pts, 11reb) and Leila Jepson (12pts).

Seven of Jepson's points and eight of Roscoe's came in that pivotal opening frame, though the visitors can be proud that they didn't go quietly despite being faced with an uphill battle.

Cobham were led by Sophie Khlaf (15pts) and Aoife Ryan (13pts), but the duo were the only Cobras to make it to double-digit scoring.

Bristol will look to keep the momentum going next weekend as they host Loughborough, with Cobham moving on to host a contest against Barking Abbey on Saturday.

Elsewhere this weekend

Loughborough Riders (7-6) lost a pair of games on the weekend, starting with a 79-76 home defeat against Worcester Wolves (5-8).

The Wolves did their playoff hopes the world of good as they enjoyed 27 points from Carolina Marques to shock to Riders, who were led by 20 points from Miriam Carrasco Menendez.

Anglia Ruskin University (9-6) continued their push to secure a top-four spot as they saw off Manchester Mystics (7-8) 63-56.

In what could be a playoff clash in the coming months, ARU's Izabelle Booth dropped an impressive 28-point, 12-rebound to get her side over the line as Michelle Ortega's (12pts, 11reb) double-double would be in vain for the Mystics.

London Cavaliers (6-7) were no match for CoLA Southwark Pride (11-2), with an 81-61 final score.

CoLA turned the screw after the main change to limit London to just 18 second-half points, with Yassin Belle-Mbaye (25pts) the only point of resistance for the Cavs.

CoLA were led by 24 points from Ayla Habbal and 13 more from Debra Wilson-Osuide, Adaora Dioramma and Chandera Jones-Aryeh.

Barking Abbey (1-12) were the first of Brent Bulls' (11-2) victims this weekend, with the Bulls starting their double-header with a 92-54 W.

Lindsey Cleary (31pts, 11reb) and Judit Fritz (26pts) both filled their boots in that one, before the Saturday's final game saw Endeavour Ipswich Basketball (11-3) ease past Reading Rockets (1-13) 85-43 thanks to 18 points and 15 rebounds from the ever-present Harriet Welham.

That just left one game on Sunday as Brent completed their two-win weekend, but they needed a period of OT to knock off a rugged Loughborough, coming out on top 73-66.

Fritz was once again on song, sinking the triple that sent the game to OT as part of a massive 35-point haul, giving Brent a share of top spot in the process.
