WNBL1 recap: 11/12 January 2025 - live streams, stats and more

Wins for CoLA, Ipswich and Brent highlighted another great weekend of D1W action.

It remains as tight as ever at the top of the standings, with just four points separating first through sixth as Ipswich and CoLA continue to lead the way.

We take a look back at all the weekend's match-ups below, with links to live stats at the bottom of the page.

Endeavour Ipswich Basketball (9-3) 92-48 London Cavaliers (6-5)

A big performance from reigning D1W Player of the Season Harriet Welham helped Ipswich to a 92-48 blowout against London Cavaliers.

Welham wasn't far off outscoring the Cavs by herself, dropping a stunning 38 points in the win as team-mate Maddy Wormald (21pts, 11reb, 8stl) also impressed.

Plenty went right for the current regular-season champs, forcing the visitors into 29 turnovers as they dominated from the tip to the final buzzer.

Subu Bharati (10pts) top scored for the London as the only player in double digits, with Yassin Belle-Mbaye (7pts, 14reb) doing her best but ultimately coming up short against her former club.

The win allows Ipswich to keep pace with CoLA at the top, whilst London are still on the outside of the playoff spots looking in.

The league now pauses next weekend for the WNBL National Cup final, before Ipswich return to action away to Anglia Ruskin and London travel to Reading on 25 January.

Elsewhere this weekend

CoLA Southwark Pride (9-2) came through their trip to Cobham Cobras (5-8), winning 57-46.

Restricting the hosts to just 12 points across the second and third quarters, CoLA took the low-scoring contest thanks to 13 points from Ayla Habbal and 11 more from Adaora Dioramma.

Nineteen points and nine rebounds from Marlee Ball helped Bristol Academy Flyers (7-6) to a 67-56 victory against Manchester Mystics (6-7).

Twenty three points from Elizandra Costa couldn't prevent Manchester from falling back under .500, with D1W's midtable remaining as tight as ever.

Loughborough Riders (7-3) survived a dramatic fight back from Reading Rockets (1-11), hanging on for a 63-60 win.

A 21-12 fourth quarter was nearly enough for the strugglers but the Rockets would ultimately end up just short of what would have been a momentum-boosting victory.

Melissa Leet (13pts, 6reb) was the standout for Loughborough, with Alicia Guerra Rainford (26pts) enjoying a game-high haul for Reading.

Fellow strugglers Barking Abbey (1-10) were also denied a win by slender margins, going down 56-53 against Anglia Ruskin University (8-5).

Jess Jolley's triple with 34 second remaining got the hosts within three, but that was as close as the scores would get as ARU survived for their eighth win of the season.

Megan Verbeeten (18pts) led the way for BA, and new ARU signing Vicky Gray had a team-high 16 points.

Brent Bulls (8-2) had no problem against Worcester Wolves (4-7), winning 76-41.

American Lindsey Cleary (27pts, 13reb, 5ast) had a huge game for the hosts, with Judit Fritz adding 20 points in support.

Worcester went 2/19 from beyond the arc as they chased the game, it wouldn't be their day despite 15 points from Carolina Marques.
