WNBL1 recap: 29/30 March 2025 - CoLA take regular-season title

CoLA Southwark Pride are the D1W regular-season winners.

CoLA's narrow win over Brent in on the last day of the campaign saw them secure top spot, denying the Bulls of what would have been their first-ever title.

We take a look back at all the weekend's match-ups below, with links to live stats at the bottom of the page.

CoLA Southwark Pride (19-3) 62-59 Brent Bulls (17-5)

CoLA Southwark Pride secured their first D1W title since 2022 with a 62-59 victory against Brent Bulls.

Needing to avoid defeat by 10 or more, CoLA required none of that wiggle room as they downed their title rivals to head into the post-season on a high.

Brent did their part, winning in Loughborough on Saturday to set up the show down, but they were unable to find a way past the hosts on their own court.

An even opening half gave the Bulls a glimmer that they could get what they needed from the contest, but it was Pride that would enjoy the best of the third quarter, building a lead that would top out at 16 points to provide the cushion needed to see off a late fightback.

Forward Adaora Dioramma turned in an efficient 15-point, 12-rebound double-double, shooting 71% to lead her side in both categories.

Ayla Habbal (12pts) and Chandera Jones-Aryeh (11pts, 7reb) were the other players who made it to double digits for the hosts.

Once again missing the influential Judit Fritz, Brent were instead led by Lindsey Cleary (17pts, 12reb), though CoLA made life difficult for the American as she went 7/23 (30%) from the field.

Kenisha Whyte (11pts) was the only other Brent player to pass the 10-point mark, with the Londoners now settling into for the playoffs as the #3 seeds.

Brent got their weekend off to a flying start, beating Loughborough Riders (11-11) 79-56 on Saturday afternoon.

Cleary (23pts, 15reb) was once again at the heart of the action with a double-double for the visitors, with defeat meaning Loughborough could no longer move into the mix for fifth spot.

Twenty seven points from Carolina Marques allowed Worcester Wolves (11-11) to head into the playoffs with momentum on their side, beating London Cavaliers (7-15) 70-63.

The Wolves overcame a 19-9 opening frame in the come-from-behind win, cancelling out 18 points and nine boards from London's Katherine Goldsby.

Loughborough ended the season with a win that would lock up seventh spot, beating London Cavaliers to end their double-header on a high, 70-54.

Melissa Leet (14pts, 13reb) put in an excellent final performance of her debut WNBL season, with only Sante Moonie (15pts, 10reb) able to muster much resistance for the short-handed Cavs.
