WNBL1 recap: 8/9 February 2025 - live streams, stats and more

It's as you were at the top of D1W after another thrilling weekend of action.

Ipswich, CoLA and Brent all picked up the 12th wins of their respective campaigns, though the gap to the chasing pack behind widened with a defeat for Anglia Ruskin.

We take a look back at all the weekend's match-ups below, with links to live stats at the bottom of the page.

Manchester Mystics (7-9) 46-55 Endeavour Ipswich Basketball (12-3)

In an uncharacteristically low-scoring clash, Endeavour Ipswich Basketball claimed another win as they beat Manchester Mystics 55-46.

D1W leaders in offence, Ipswich were held to a joint season-low total that included a four-point second quarter before doing enough in the second half to grind out the victory.

The game still hung in the balance throughout, with neither team able to build a lead bigger than seven points across the first three quarters, and Manchester moving ahead for chunks of the third frame.

Both teams struggled to find their scoring stroke in this one, with Manchester going 23% from the floor to their opponent's 28%, making double-doubles from Harriet Welham and Louisa Gibbins even more valuable for the visitors.

Welham (19pts, 10reb) and Gibbins (15pts, 10reb) were the only two Ipswich players to score in double digits, cancelling out a game-high 21 points from Manchester's Elizandra Costa.

In what is unlikely to remembered as a classic, Ipswich still prevailed to keep their title bid on course, and now move their attention to a crunch clash against CoLA next weekend.

Manchester can have another go at upsetting the balance at the top next Saturday as well, playing host to Brent Bulls.

Elsewhere this weekend

Barking Abbey (2-12) are still scrapping hard to avoid D1W's trap door and picked up a vital 69-53 victory against Cobham Cobras (6-10) to start the weekend.

Nicole Clancy (22pts) and Megan Verbeeten (18pts, 5reb) did the damage for BA, who still remain eight points off safety despite the win.

Reading Rockets (1-14) couldn't follow suit but they did run title candidates CoLA Southwark Pride (12-2) close, with a 76-69 final score.

CoLA led from tip to buzzer and held a double-digit advantage for much of the clash before a late Reading fightback, with Pride's Adaora Dioramma (20pts, 11reb) enjoying the game's standout stat line.

Worcester Wolves (6-8) kept their playoff push on course as they topped London Cavaliers (6-8) 76-63, thanks in part to 15 points from Kacey Cox.

Cox led five Wolves on nine points or more, including Nina Wallace's 13pts, 15ast, 10reb) triple-double, with Theresa Jackson(15pts, 6ast) leading the Cavs' charge.

Bristol Academy Flyers (8-8) came unstuck in Saturday's only other game, going down 65-55 against Loughborough Riders (8-6).

Erin Caldwell (14pts), Melissa Leet (13pts, 8reb) and Miriam Carrasco Menendez (12pts) combined to get the Riders over the line, overcoming a 49-43 deficit heading into the fourth quarter in the process.

Sunday's only tie saw Brent Bulls (12-2) maintain their recent good form, beating Anglia Ruskin University (9-7) 62-47.

Lindsey Cleary and Ellie Bishop both dropped 14 points for the Bulls, who enjoyed 22 points in both the opening and closing quarters.

ARU struggled to recover from scoring just five first quarter points, slipping to their seventh loss of the season as a result
