Basketball England is seeking applications for Support Therapist and Apprentice Strength & Conditioning positions within either our Men/Women’s U15/U17 programmes. These roles are entry level roles suitable for undergraduates/post graduates looking to enhance their knowledge and experience and build their professional network working within the Basketball England national team programmes.
You will be expected to attend national team camps. Assisting the technical coaches in the preparation and recovery of each athlete for their technical team sessions. Working closely with other members of the Sports Science and Medicine (SSM) team to ensure that all team members are prepared and ready for the demands of a national team training camp. There will be some administration work required by and close communication with the national team lead will also be expected. During the camps you might be asked to conduct education sessions between technical practices also.
You must have a keen interest in working within team sports and aspire to work within the sports performance industry. The successful applicants will be subject to a background check (DBS) and required to take an online safeguarding course. Please find below the Job descriptions for both roles.

Your role will involve working at selected team camps while overseeing some remote coaching with the selected team. There will be opportunities throughout the year to work with the lead coaches and CPD events. ‘The Support Therapists roles offer an opportunity for physiotherapists and sports therapists to get hands on experience in elite sports. Camps and events occur on a regular basis throughout the season with Support Therapists being supported by senior Sports Science and Medicine Staff.
Experience can be gained in a team environment, which includes, doctors, strength and conditioning coaches, basketball coaches, performance analysts and team managers.
Often Support Therapists progress into National Team Roles with domestic and overseas travel to competitions such as the Eurobasket Finals. The SSM team has grown from under 10 members if staff 4 years ago to in excess of 50 working across a number of environments and Basketball England are ambitious to continue to support and develop SSM in performance basketball’
