NBL Division Two Recap - Week 3 (12/13 October 2019)

There was plenty of exciting basketball to enjoy across NBL Division Two this weekend, with eight games to choose from on Saturday. We take a look at all the action in our week 3 recap.

Game of the Week

Bristol Academy Flyers II 79 - 71 Bristol Hurricanes

Following an intense local derby, Bristol Flyers secured bragging rights for the time being as they defeated local rivals Bristol Hurricanes 79 - 71.

A 22-11 opening frame put the hosts in the driving seat early and from there they never looked back. The Hurricanes did manage to get the difference down to just two points with 90 seconds remaining but a late flurry of points from the Flyers sealed the win.

Flyers' captain Roy Owen led by example as he scored a team high 15 points, Hurricanes' Benas Andriekus led all scorers with 20 points plus nine rebounds.

Elsewhere in D2M

In the battle of the sides that came down from D1M last season, Team Newcastle took the spoils in the North East as they beat Manchester Magic 76 - 64.

Myerscough College proved too much for Derbyshire Spartans as they won 90-73. Mikey Irvine top scored for the visitors with 24 points.

Charnwood continued their good form to start the season as they beat University of Chester 76 - 68. Josh Lloyd top scored for the Riders with a game high 22 points.

Essex Rebels made short work of Cardiff Met Archers, taking that match up 119 - 70. Rory Winter starred for the Rebels with 22 points as Tom Child and Andre Lavinier added 19 and 18 respectively.

There was overtime excitement between Sussex and East London as the Bears snatched a hard-fought 92-87 win. A last gasp lay up for the All Stars forced OT at 78 - 78 before Sussex eventually sealed the win after the extra period. Ian Berry top scored for the Bears with 24 points.

Arturo Noha Pascual played all 40 minutes and scored a game high 22 points but it wasn't enough for Greenwich Titans to defeat BC Medelynas, with the visitors coming out on top 67-61.

The final score between Derbyshire Arrows and Sheffield Hallam Sharks wasn't available at the time of writing.
