NBL Division Two Recap - Week 21 (22/23 February 2020)

A busy weekend in D2M produced some exciting outcomes that are sure to play their part as the race for the post season continues to heat up. Below are all this weekend's results, with a full recap due later this afternoon.

Game of the week

Derbyshire Arrows 90-87 Bristol Academy Flyers

Xavier Mcintosh hit 34 points for Derbyshire Arrows on Sunday evening as fifth overcame sixth in Division Two Men.

In a closely contested first quarter, it was the hosts that pulled away in the second before holding on to their lead for the remainder of the game.

Joseph Baugh was another notable performer for Arrows with a 20-point, 15-rebound double-double which helped his side on their way to a win that moves them up to fourth and six points clear of Flyers.

Elsewhere in D2M

Manchester Magic's miserable run of form continued on the road as they fell to a 67-59 defeat at Bristol Hurricanes. Richard Bell stood up for the struggling visitors with 26 points but Hurricanes got a boost from the bench, with 36 points compared to Magic's two.

Charnwood on the other hand got an impressive 69-79 road win at Chester, after a dominant first quarter from Riders. Blaize Sagna and Gregoire Durand enjoyed their afternoon with 25 and 23 points respectively, while Isaac Ray posted 20 points in vein for the hosts.

Sheffield's search for a first win continues after a heavy 38-81 defeat to Myerscough. It was a dire second-half for the hosts who could only manage six points, as Myerscough moved to within two points of Northern Conference leaders Newcastle.

In the Southern Conference, leaders Essex Rebels won on the road 82-75 at East London All Stars. Thomas Child's 22 points and Rory Winter's double-double (21 points, 14 rebounds) did the job for the visitors, while Grant Bryant impressed in defeat for All Stars with 21 points.

BC Medelynas London continue to keep the pressure on Rebels with an 87-55 win over Cardiff Met Archers. Ausridas Petraitis was on fire with a 25-point, 15-rebound double-double with teammate Mylo Mitchell (21 points, 11 rebounds) impressing with one of his own as the Londoners eased to a win on the road.

Bottom side Sussex Bears pulled off a shock this weekend with a stunning 96-73 win over London Greenhouse Pioneers. Yonathan Napoleon continued his high return rate with a 25-point, 13-rebound double-double for Pioneers but Tomas Seduikis was the hero for Bears with a 28-point, 14-rebound double-double of his own to move Bears off the bottom.

Ipswich slumped to a 69-79 home defeat to London Westside. Ipswich's Jake Antony Eynon and Westside's Donald Morris scored 21 points apiece but a strong fourth quarter from the visitors made the difference.

Up Next

In the South, Sussex Bears will hope to build on their winning week 21 when they host Greenwich Titans, while there's two London derbies in store as All Stars take on Pioneers and BC Medelynas face Westside .

Cardiff Met Archers are back at the bottom and will try to change that at Team Solent Kestrels II, while the leaders Essex host Ipswich.

Archers and Bears will then go head-to-head on the Sunday in a crucial battle at the bottom.

In the North, Sheffield travel to Charnwood and there's a double-header for Chester and Birmingham Elite, who face each other after Chester host Flyers and Elite face Derbyshire Spartans.
