WNBL Division One Recap - Week 20 (15/16 February 2020)

Week 20 saw three games take place in D1W, with some commanding wins across the weekend. Below is a roundup of the weekend action.

Game of the week

Team Solent Kestrels ended their three-game winless run as they finally took home the points from their visit to struggling Loughborough Riders.

Kestrels only conceded six and eight points in the third and fourth quarters to keep the scoreline comfortable and dominated throughout.

Krisztina Velkey scored 12 points for the visitors, bettered only by Riders' Molly James with 13 but Kestrels made more of their two point chances count to pull away from the hosts.

Elsewhere in D1W

Riders had a weekend to forget after also falling to a 76-41 defeat to Reading Rockets the day before. Lucia Serrano Ranz was in fine form for Rockets, finishing the game with a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Sitota Gines Espinosa also put in a solid performance with 19 points to keep Reading ticking along nicely in fifth.

London Lions II won their clash towards the bottom of the table, running out 62-47 winners over bottom placed Southwark Pride. Fatmata Janneh produced the highest scoring performance of the game with 14, closely followed by teamate Ann Sheaia with 13.
