NBL1 & National Cup recap: 11/12 November - live streams, stats and more

D1M enjoyed a strong weekend, with six standout league games and a bunch of National Cup fixtures.

Derby kept their title challenge on track with victory over Worthing in front of the NBL Live cameras, while Newcastle, Bradford, Reading, Essex and Loughborough also picked up wins.

Defending champs Hemel are also into the next round of the Cup along with the likes of Essex, Bradford, Milton Keynes and Newcastle.

We take a look at all of the weekend's games below, with links to live stats and live streams at the bottom of the page.

Nottingham Hoods (3-2) 84-93 Reading Rockets (4-0)

Reading picked up another win to continue their push towards the top of the D1M standings, beating Nottingham 93-84.

The Rockets are the league's only undefeated team, meaning they can surpass current leaders Derby if they can win their games in hand.

Reading's latest success came off the back of a one-two punch from Elijah Maynard and Zack Powell.

Maynard dropped a team-high 22 points, including three triples, whilst Powell stuffed the stat sheet with 21 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists.

Nottingham led 42-39 at the half but couldn't convert that advantage into a W, losing both the third and fourth quarter to collect their second defeat of the season.

Landon Taliaferro (25pts) top-scored for the Hoods as reigning POTW Johde Campbell (12pts, 4/12 shooting) couldn't replicate his highs from a week ago.

Joshua Guddemi (17pts, 10reb) and Greg Skoric (13pts, 12reb) both collected double-doubles in the loss.

Elsewhere this weekend

Derby Trailblazers (5-1) put on a show for the NBL Live cameras to beat Worthing Thunder (1-4) 87-77.

Jase Harrison's 18 points and eight assists helped his return from an injury layoff as Sam Masten (20pts) and Raheem May-Thompson (17pts) both played well.

Twenty three points on his debut from new signing Jake Enyon plus 23 more from Hafeez Abdul wouldn't be enough to stop Worthing from falling to their fourth defeat in five games.

Barking Abbey (0-6) came agonisingly close to a first win of the season before losing 89-87 to Newcastle University (2-2).

BA tied the game up at 84-84 with 1:38 remaining but couldn't push on for the W as Emmanuel Kanwei dropped 25 points for the visitors.

London Elite (1-4) slipped to defeat against Bradford Dragons (2-4), going down 105-73.

Micah Savery-Richards and Joe Buchanan both enjoyed 27 points for the Dragons, with the pair combining to nail nine triples.

Essex Rebels (4-1) continued their good form with a comfortable 80-60 win against Thames Valley Cavaliers (1-5).

The hosts led by double digits by the time the first quarter closed, increasing their advantage from there off the back of balanced attack that saw six different Rebels score 10 points or more.

City of Birmingham Rockets (3-1) suffered their first loss of the season as they came up short 97-77 against Loughborough Riders (4-1).

The Riders continued their charge into the top four as part of the group of one loss teams, with Justin Hedley (19pts, 14reb) contributing a double-double.

NBL National Cup

A number of teams have joined Reading in the hat for the next round as the NBL National Cup continued yesterday,

Bradford Dragons moved one step closer to adding another final to their KitKing Trophy berth after an 89-55 win over Bristol Academy Flyers.

D1M's Newcastle University saw off D2 St Helens Saints 101-84, whilst Manchester Magic easily came through the battle of the former top-flight teams, beating Leicester Warriors 72-49.

Reigning champs Hemel Storm had no problem fending off Teesside Lions, coming out on top 103-56, Milton Keynes Breakers claimed another D1M scalp with a 103-83 win against Loughborough Riders and Essex Rebels beat Team Solent Kestrels 91-80.

Canterbury Academy Crusaders went down fighting 78-69 against Endeavour Ipswich Basketball, whilst the all-London derby games provided plenty of excitement as CoLA Southwark Pride edged Westminster Warriors 80-76, and Barking Abbey topped London Elite 85-72.
