WNBL1 preview: 21/22 October - live streams, stats and more

D1W is back once again, with six games on tap for the coming weekend.

Just one top-flight game made it into last weekend as the National Cup stole the limelight, but league action is back on the agenda once more, with plenty of intriguing games on offer for fans across the country.

That includes a rematch of last season's WNBL National Cup final as Thames Valley take on Reading, whilst Ipswich host Anglia Ruskin.

We take a look at all the weekend's action below, with links to live stats and live streams at the bottom of the page.

Thames Valley Cavaliers (0-2) vs Reading Rockets (2-0)

Reading get a shot at revenge this weekend as they travel to last season's league runners up Thames Valley.

The Rockets were beaten 66-57 in last January's WNBL National Cup final in Manchester as the Cavs lifted their first-ever trophy, forming part of a campaign that would see TVC finish second in the D1W standings.

Few would have pegged Thames Valley to be winless even at this early stage of the season, but defeats to Ipswich and Loughborough have meant TVC are yet to get off the mark.

Results elsewhere suggest both those opponents could be in the reckoning for the top four come season's end, as could Reading given their start. That means tomorrow's clash has a little more importance than an early season meeting might usually attract, especially as the hosts won't want to lose further ground in a potential title race down the line.

Reading's Lindsey Cleary (26.0PPG, 4.0APG, 2nd for efficiency) continues to play at an elite level and that'll be something TVC will need to be aware of. They managed to get the American into early foul trouble in their Cup final success, but it seems unlikely the talented guard will allow that to happen again.

Elsewhere this weekend

That leaves three more games to cover tomorrow, plus a pair on Sunday.

Barking Abbey (0-2) are yet to get off the mark and host another winless side in City of Birmingham Rockets (0-1), who dipped out against Manchester Mystics on opening day.

Loughborough Riders' (2-1) solid early season form will be put to the test as they fact a difficult road trip to last season's playoff finalists CoLA Southwark Pride (1-1).

Endeavour Ipswich Basketball (2-0) are early pace setters are winning both their games to date by a combined 97 points. They host Anglia Ruskin University (2-1) tomorrow, who were less than 10 seconds away from a 3-0 record last weekend before Loughborough forced OT and then stole the points in the extra frame.

Sunday's pair of games begins with Team Solent Kestrels (0-2) looking for their first win of the season as they host newly-promoted surprise package Manchester Mystics (2-0), before Brent Bulls' (1-0) trip to Bristol Academy Flyers (0-2) brings an end to the weekend.
