WNBL1 recap: 28/29 October - live streams, stats and more

Five games ended October in D1W, with plenty of action to go around.

Ipswich furthered their title aspirations at the expense of Reading, whilst Barking, Loughborough, Thames Valley and ARU all picked up big wins.

We take a look at all of the weekend's action below, with links to live stats and live streams at the bottom of the page.

Reading Rockets (2-2) 60-70 Endeavour Ipswich Basketball (4-0)

Endeavour Ipswich Basketball once again showed they're the real deal this season as they beat Reading 70-60 this weekend.

The visitors controlled the contest for the most part, leading by double digits on four occasions despite Reading's fightbacks.

Liv Forster (30pts, 5reb, 5stl 4ast) stole the headlines as Ipswich's primary offensive threat, though it was the former champs' team defence that swung the hard-fought contest, forcing the hosts into 35 turnovers as five Ipswich players registered two or more steals.

Harriet Welham (13pts, 10reb) nabbed a team-high six steals to go with her double-double, whilst Yazmin Edwards (12pts, 6reb) added four more.

Parfaite Ando (15pts, 14reb) and Lindsey Cleary (11pts, 10reb) both recorded double-doubles for Reading but it wouldn't be enough as the Berkshire side fell to their second defeat of the season, making it back-to-back losses for coach Luque's side.

There's no such heat check for Ipswich's title hopes though as they continue to roll through their early schedule.

Elsewhere this weekend

Barking Abbey (1-3) are off the mark as they beat Bristol Academy Flyers (0-4) 66-57 in the battle at the bottom, with BA's Nicole Clancy dropping a game-high 17 points.

Loughborough Riders (3-2) moved back above .500 as they beat City of Birmingham Rockets (1-2) 79-60.

Emma Dunsire's 14-point, 12-rebound double-double made a big impact for the Riders as Sasha Lecuyer (18pts, 6reb) top scored. Michelle Turner (16pts, 8reb, 5ast) was the standout for CoB.

Manchester Mystics' (3-1) unbeaten start to the season is over after a low-scoring 55-37 loss to Anglia Ruskin University (3-2).

Kasia Neininger (19pts) led the way for ARU as they picked up their third win of the year, with Manchester racked up just 11 second-half points.
