NBL1 preview: 10/11 February - live streams, stats and more

There's a lot to like about D1M right now, with battles going on everywhere you look.

The title race is still on for four or potentially even five teams, six points separate the top six and seventh down to eleventh are just three wins apart.

That means each game starts to take on just a little more importance as we head for the business end of the season, starting this weekend with another eight clashes across the country.

We take a look at all of the weekend's action below, with links to live stats and live streams at the bottom of the page.

Derby Trailblazers (12-2) vs Newcastle University (10-4)

Joint leaders Derby Trailblazers entertain Newcastle University tomorrow in a meeting of two top four sides.

Derby know that their title fate is in their own hands as things stand, and winning the remainder of their 10 matches will be enough to claim a maiden D1M crown now that they own the tiebreaker with rivals Essex.

That'll be easier said than done however, with games against Reading, Hemel and Loughborough still to play, plus tomorrow's meeting with a talented Newcastle outfit.

The North East programme stole a stunning come-from-behind win against the Riders last time out, but their margin for error in the title race is slim given their four losses to date.

That means a win tomorrow is a necessity if they're continue mounting a charge on top spot, but a top four finish would still be a solid achievement for coach Elderkin's side heading into the post season.

Newcastle enter tomorrow's contest with the top two scorers in D1M, Logan Rooney (23.2PPG) and Justin Hopkins (22.6PPG), and will need both to be firing on all cylinders against D1M's second best offence (97.4PPG).

These two sides also rank #1 and #2 on the rebounding charts so expect both teams to go hard to establish an advantage on the glass.

Elsewhere this weekend

There's three other games on Saturday plus four more on Sunday to complete a busy weekend.

Barking Abbey (2-13) will keep trying to get themselves out of trouble but have a tough task as they welcome defending champs Hemel Storm (11-3) tomorrow.

Sunday should be a different prospect though as BA head across town to play fellow strugglers London Elite (2-13) in a huge clash between the bottom two.

Essex Rebels (12-2) know they need to keep the pressure on Derby in the hopes of a slip up somewhere down the line. That includes this weekend as they welcome Bradford Dragons (7-8), who are fighting hard to retain a spot in the top eight.

City of Birmingham Rockets (4-10) couldn't end their recent winless streak last weekend despite having a pair of games. They'll have another double-header to put things right, starting with a tough home tie against title chasing Reading Rockets (9-3).

CoB will then head out onto the road on Sunday to take on another side on eight points in the shape of Thames Valley Cavaliers (4-11).

Sunday also sees a few other sides doubling up as they work through the remainder of their schedule.

Newcastle will follow up their trip to Derby with a home tie against Worthing Thunder (5-10), with the South coast side hoping the 700 mile round trip won't be in vain.

And finally Reading Rockets will also be playing their second game in as many days as they have a road tilt against Loughborough Riders (9-6), who need to bounce back from last weekend's heartbreaking one point loss to Newcastle.
