Supporting the game - DiSE strength and conditioning mentorships

Basketball England has launched a mentorship programme for aspiring strength and conditioning coaches in partnership with DiSE academies.

The programme has been developed to help aspiring strength and conditioning (S&C) coaches interested in working in basketball to harness skills and competencies through meaningful work placements and discussion forums.

In addition, through collaboration with our DiSE Academy Partners, the mentorship aims to provide additional S&C support to the players on the talent pathway who are part of the England Development Programme, as well as young players within the England Talent Programme.

In recent years, substantial changes have been made in relation to the Physically Robust Pillar of Basketball England's Player Development Framework, including the launch of the Starting Five Warm Up, centralised testing and screening days, and enhancement of minimal operating standards, all with the purpose of creating a more consistent approach to the S&C strategy across the country.

The S&C mentorship programme is another step forward in providing young and aspiring players with better wrap-around services to support their development.
