Wolves want Worcester noise ahead of opening double-header
Wolves' head coaches Dean Blake and Alexis Lewis want Worcester University to be rocking this weekend as the club's top sides start their D1 campaigns.
Fresh off a comprehensive 102-43 victory over D2 side Warwickshire Hawks, the men's programme have a chance to start their NBL Division One season with plenty of momentum as they host Sheffield Sharks on Saturday night.
The Sharks also picked up a win in the opening round of the NBL National Cup, seeing off Black Country Steelers 72-65, prompting the Wolves head coach to issue a rallying call to the club's fans.
“There was a big crowd here today, but we want it to be even bigger next week," said Blake (pictured), speaking to the club's official website after Friday's victory.
"We’ve got two stands here, so let’s fill them both. I want all our players to experience what it’s like to be a member of the Wolves,” he said.

D1W action also gets underway
Anyone looking to get down and support the Wolves will have an extra treat in store, with a double-header planned for Saturday evening.
The club's WNBL side also begin their D1 schedule with a tough opener against defending champs CoLA Southwark Pride at 5pm, before the Men take to the floor at 7:30pm.
CoLA claimed all three meetings between the two sides a year ago, winning 51-44 at home in November and 54-43 in the West Midlands last February.
The Londoners also secured victory in the opening round of the playoffs, sealing a comfortable 71-45 win in the #1 vs #8 match up on 6 April.
For head coach Alexis Lewis, it is a tough start to the season, but still an occasion to embrace: "The team have a had a good pre-season and are excited to play CoLA on the opening weekend.
"We know it will be a challenging game, playing a great team and programme, but the team are excited to get the season started.
Echoing fellow skipper Blake, Lewis also had a shout out for the Worcester faithful: "The Wolfpack always come out to support! They energise and lift the team throughout games, and really are the team's 'Sixth Woman'"
After picking up back-to-back end of season NBL awards for Game Day Experience, local fans are sure to be rewarded with a quality night out no matter the results for the hosts this weekend.
