What licence do I need? +

Membership has now been streamlined into three catch all membership levels, Performance, Participant and Supporter.

SUPPORTER*

  • Fans of the game
  • Club Admins
  • Parents or guardians
  • League and Association committee members

* Available from October 2024 onwards

PARTICIPANT

  • Local league, BUCS and 3x3 competitors
  • Non-NBL competitions
  • Players, coaches, officials and bench personnel

PERFORMANCE

  • NBL, WNBL and Jnr. NBL
  • Players, coaches, officials and bench personnel

All NBL and Jnr. NBL players require a performance membership and validation of their licence to be active and insured.

Coaches and officials operating at senior NBL level require a performance membership and validation of their licence to be active and insured.

Those coaching or officiating only in Jnr. NBL need only become a participant member and validation of their licence to be active and insured.

Those coaching and officiating with a valid performance membership and licence for senior NBL can also operate in Jnr NBL.

How do I update my profile? +

Please email [email protected] quoting your membership number and outlining the information you wish to be updated.

What information/documentation do I need to provide when licencing? +
  • Local league player: Photo

  • NBL/WNBL player: Photo, passport, international letter of clearance (for any player registered with a non-British seniors only, BBF), FIBA approval (U18s BBF), visa/settled status proof (non-nationals only)

  • Officials (referees, table, statisticians): Photo, passport, qualification, safeguarding self-declaration SG1, safeguarding course, DBS, visa/settle status proof (non-nationals only)

  • Coach: Photo, passport (NBL only) qualification, safeguarding self-declaration SG1/2, safeguarding course, DBS, visa/settle status proof (non-nationals only, NBL only)

  • Bench personnel: Photo, passport (NBL only) qualification, safeguarding self-declaration SG1/2, safeguarding course, DBS, visa/settle status proof (non-nationals only, NBL only)

How long does it take for my licence to be approved? +

Basketball England will aim to consider all applications meeting the required conditions within seven business days.
