NBL and WNBL Players of the Week - (26/27 Sep 2026)

Chosen from across the weekend's games by the BE team, you can have your say on this week's selections and give a shout-out to the players you think deserve one using our social media channels.

How it works

Each week, a standout player plus four other worthy selections will be put forward to make the Player and Team Of The Week in both D1W and D1M, paying attention to the following criteria:

• Efficiency
• Stats
• Team and opposition strength
• Periods of influence in the game
• Being on a winning team (exceptional performances from players on losing teams will be considered for TOTW)

Players of the Week

Another two standouts get tagged as our latest Players of the Week, with Oaklands' Milo Sigmund and ARU's Olivia Rangel getting this nod.

Rangel put up some wild numbers in only her second WNBL start, showing early signs she could be in for a huge D1W season.

Twenty rebounds led all D1W players from across the weekend, adding six assists, six steals and a game-high 24 points on 46% shooting.

It was a stunning performance from the Wisconsin native, who is already looking unstoppable in the early going.

Another player looking impressive was Oaklands' Sigmund.

Playing just over 35 minutes, he led all scorers with 19 points in the statement 71-67 road win against Barnet, netting 5/7 from beyond the arc, only one shot less than the Bulldogs managed as a team.

Eleven rebounds completed his double-double, adding a couple of assists for good measure to cap a great afternoon for the Wolves.

A special mention this week goes to Tees Valley Mohawks' Logan Ryan, who could only be slowed down by some live stats issues against Liverpool as he dropped a ridiculous 50 points.

Without full stats Ryan couldn't be compared across this week's candidates, but his point output warranted attention as the game was still eScored.

D1W Team of the Week

Olivia Rangel - Anglia Ruskin University (24pts, 20reb, 6ast, 6stl, 40eff)

Sharliyah Sutherland - Barking Abbey (18pts, 6reb, 17eff)

Elizabeth Esan - East London Phoenix (18pts, 5reb, 2ast, 12eff)

Faith Deakin - Milton Keynes Breakers (14pts, 4reb, 3ast, 15eff)

Megan Verbeeten - Worcester Wolves (12pts, 11reb, 5ast, 3blk, 18eff)

Rangel automatically slots into the TOTW and is joined by four worthy selections from across the league.

Sutherland top-scored in Barking's statement home win against CoLA, making her a logical choice alongside a former BA standout, Megan Verbeeten, who produced a great two-way performance for her new side Worcester.

Elizabeth Esan may have put up a lower efficiency than team-mate Wuraola Ijelu, but she more than made up for it with a game-high 18 points in Phoenix's low-scoring win over Bristol, and her +/- of +12 was also huge in the hard-fought contest.

With a balanced attack, MK had multiple candidates for the final spot in this week's five but young star Faith Deakin wins out here with a game-high +/- of +27, showing that good things happened whenever she was on the court.

POTW Sigmund takes up his spot in the TOTW, with another Pool B standout, Wayne Kitenge, also making the cut.

The Solent big did everything right this weekend, adding 15 points off the Kestrels' bench on 70% shooting, pulling down 11 boards, dishing four assists, and doing it all in just 17:41 of action.

Only Logan Ryan could top Malachi Boakye-Yiadom's 31 points as Sussex picked up their first-ever D1M victory, while Jamie Cummins helped Gloucester City Kings to do the same thing with a standout stat line against Leicester Warriors.

Manchester's talented young guard Nathan Brown rounds out this week's five after his antics on the road against BCU, getting the nod against a similar stat line from team-mate Fortune Iguma after playing for over 16 fewer minutes (21:54 vs 38:14)
