Solent Kestrels claimed last season's D2 title
A new look D1
Fans may be aware of the changes to NBL Division One following the creation of the BCB during the past summer.
With the bulk of last year's D2 making up the new top tier alongside some sides who elected for promotion from D3, the top flight now has two pools that will feed into next Spring's post-season.
Favourites may be Solent Kestrels following their D2 Playoff title in 2024/25, but both pools possess plenty of talent across the board.
Barking were beaten by the Kestrels in last season's D2 showpiece, though their Academy-based roster has undertaken an overhaul ahead of the new campaign.
Pool A has its own share of quality, with Manchester Magic also looking to add to their number of D1M titles, like two-time winners Solent.
St Helens, former D1 outfit Leicester Warriors and quick-rising Birmingham City University could also be teams to watch.
Expect the unexpected
With an NBL reshuffle, there is an unusual range of teams making up D1 this term.
From D2 high-flyers who could have been potentially making the step up had there not been a restructure, to last season's expected D2 returners, plus a host of promoted D3 sides, it could take a few months of fixtures to really shake out the two pools and get a feel for how teams stack up.
Add in summer recruitment and the increase or decrease of quality for teams across the board, there's plenty of unknown, and excitement, heading into this weekend and beyond.
