NBL D1 Recap (19/20 Sep 2026) - results, stats, streams and more

BCU started the season with a thrilling two-point OT win against last season's Pool A champs Worcester, with Manchester, Myerscough and St Helens also picking up Ws.

In Pool B, Barnet are also up and running, London Elite sealing a victory against London Lions by the slimmest of margins, and Oaklands won the battle of the promoted sides as they saw off Sussex Storm.

In the list below, a * is for Pool A games, and a + is for Pool B games.

Standout performances

Sam Toluwase's 45-points dragged BCU to an OT victory against the Wolves in Friday night's opener, erasing what had been an 18-point second-quarter lead to eventually force an extra period, which the visitors took 11-9.

Alei Wol (23pts, 12reb) put on a show for CoLA as they christened their new court with a 74-68 victory against last season's top four outfit London Stars.

A Tyler Fairbairn lay-up with 30 seconds to go gave last season's bottom side London Elite a winning start to the new campaign, edging out London Lions II 75-74 as Fairburn closed with a 19/21 double-double.

Taking the fourth quarter 29-14, Oaklands eased to a 96-72 win against Sussex Storm, with Myerscough using a similar 26-9 third to find a way past Liverpool 86-56.

In Sunday's only game, Barnet took all four quarters to seal a low scoring 69-43 win against Cobham, with Vincent Monaghan (21pts, 9reb) leading the way for the Bulldogs.

What does it mean for the standings? 

It's still too early to draw any major conclusions on the season, but Pool A winners from a year ago Worcester suffered their first defeat of the campaign and are a loss behind the other top four sides from 2025/26, Myerscough, Manchester and BCU.

Oaklands will no doubt have been buoyed by their first D1M victory after promotion a year ago, and a win for London Elite (who only managed two in the entire 2025/26 season) shows they're prepped for a much brighter campaign this time around.

NBL Division One Standings

Player-of-the-week candidates 

Toluwase's (45pts, 12reb, 4ast, 37eff) antics against Worcester make him a standout for this week's honours, with Manchester's Daniel Davies (12pts, 13reb, 24eff) notching up an early double-double in Magic's win over Tees Valley.

Wol (23pts, 12reb, 26eff) and Vilius Kuzminskas (23pts, 5reb, 4stl, 24eff) had a great back-and-forth in the CoLA London Stars' game, and Solomon Dobson-Smith (18pts, 5/7 3pt, 18eff) plus Oskaras Striuga (13pts, 15reb, 23eff) combined for Barking to down Richmond.

Fairbairn's (19pts, 21reb, 5ast, 35eff) late heroics for London Elite put him in the mix for honours, and Danny Evans' (19pts, 6reb, 5ast, 5/8 3pt, 24eff) well-rounded contribution helped Oaklands past Sussex.

Myerscough's Olivier Esingle (22pts, 9reb, 5ast, 24eff) and Liverpool's Louis Rogerson-Evans (20pts, 11reb, 3ast, 26eff) both continued last season's fine form, and Vincent Monaghan (21pts, 9reb, 22eff) was the main man in helping Barnet past Cobham.
