NBL fixtures confirmed for 2025/26 with a new venue for finals

NBL

NBL fans don't have long to wait for basketball action, with the 2025/26 curtain-raiser now just a few weeks away.

The opening round of the NBL National Cup, Basketball England's oldest competition dating back to 1930s, gets proceedings underway with round one contests across 19, 20 and 21 September.

Pool A and Pool B of the new-look NBL Division One both kick into action the following weekend, 27/28 September, along with five games from WNBL Division One as CoLA Southwark Pride look to defend their title.

The WNBL National Cup is slated to begin on 11 October, whilst the U18 and U16 Men's and Women's Premier competitions all begin on the final weekend of this month (27/28 September).

For the first time since 2019/20, the NBL, WNBL and Jnr. NBL Sure Shot National Cup Finals will be held away from Manchester's National Basketball Performance Centre (NBPC), with Worcester University hosting the first showpiece of the new season on 24/25 January 2026.

The Senior Playoff Finals (25/26 April 2026) and Jnr. NBL Final Fours (2/3 May 2026) will both retain their home in the Northwest at NBPC.

CoLA aiming for D1W threepeat

Back-to-back D1W winners CoLA Southwark Pride can make it three in a row with success in 2025/26, and a sixth title overall, if they can go all the way in the upcoming campaign.

The Londoners start their season on the road against Worcester Wolves, whilst D1W fans will no doubt have CoLA's trip to Suffolk to play Ipswich (6 December 2025) and the home game against their long-standing rivals (28 February 2026) already circled in the calendar.

The repeats of last season's WNBL National Cup Final take place on 1 November 2025 (in Ipswich) and on the final day of the regular season, 8 March 2026, in Brent, for what are sure to be a couple of much-anticipated clashes.

With Cobham's withdrawal from the top flight, D1W will be a eleven-team league for the upcoming season.

Familiar faces in D1M

With a new-look D1M following the creation of the British Championship Basketball (BCB), a number of former title winners will be back at the NBL's top table and itching to add to their former glories.

Manchester Magic are the joint-third most successful side in D1M history with four titles, they'll begin their Pool A campaign with a road trip to Oxford Hoops.

Team Solent Kestrels won D1M as recently as 2021/22 and are no doubt an early favourite to top Pool B after claiming the D2M playoffs last April. The South coast side host Greenwich Titans to get things underway for coach Guymon's side.

Fans won't have to wait long for a repeat of last year's D2 Final, either, with Barking Abbey heading to the Kestrels on 11 October 2025.
