NBL and WNBL Players of the Week - (19/20 Sep 2026)

How it works

Each week, a standout player plus four other worthy selections will be put forward to make the Player and Team Of The Week in both D1W and D1M, paying attention to the following criteria:

• Efficiency
• Stats
• Team and opposition strength
• Periods of influence in the game
• Being on a winning team (exceptional performances from players on losing teams will be considered for TOTW)

Players of the Week

Newly promoted Milton Keynes had no issue picking up their first win of the season, knocking off Worcester Wolves 74-72 on the road after a period of OT.

A big reason for the win was a game-high 24 points from Chantelle Okoli, who added 11 boards, combined for seven stops (four steals, three blocks) and closed with a team-high +/- of +7. That impact made all the difference in the two-point win, sealing POTW honours in the process.

Another player getting one over on the Wolves was BCU's Sam Toluwase, who helped his side to their own two-point OT win, this time an 85-83 victory against last season's playoff finalists.

Toluwase's 45 points led all D1M players across the weekend by some distance, and with his side's next closest scorer Damian Ogodan netting just 11, Toluwase contributed over 50% of his side's total.

Adding 12 rebounds for the double-double, plus four assists for good measure, Toluwase was a nailed-on choice from the weekend.

D1W Team of the Week

Sharliyah Sutherland - Barking Abbey (18pts, 6reb, 3ast, 3stl, 19eff)

Monife Abidekun - CoLA Southwark Pride (21pts, 5reb, 5stl, 16eff)

Faye Parker - Anglia Ruskin University (16pts, 8reb, 5blk, 18eff)

Player of the Week Okoli slots straight into the Team of the Week and is joined by a pair of Anglia Ruskin standouts in Olivia Rangel and Faye Parker.

Rangel enjoyed an excellent debut for ARU with a stat-stuffing outing, and Parker amassed an impressive five blocks to go with her contributions elsewhere.

BA youngster Sharliyah Sutherland was the standout in the Londoners' one-sided win over Bristol and Monife Abidekun took the early opportunity to establish herself in a much-changed CoLA rotation, providing a game-high 21 points as Pride knocked off London All Stars.

London Elite's Tyler Fairbairn was Sam Toluwase's main challenger to POTW honours but the forward's sizable double-double still couldn't topple the BCU man's scoring exploits, putting Fairbairn into the TOTW as a result.

Alei Wol ensured CoLA started their Pool B campaign with a win with a 23/12 double-double, and Oaklands' Danny Evans hit five triples on his way to 19 points against Sussex, chipping in six rebounds and five assists for good measure.

The five is rounded out by Myerscough's young star Olivier Esingle, who impressed a year ago and has continued that form into 2026/27. His 22 points, nine boards and five dimes ensured 'Sco would could out ahead of Liverpool, and Esingle's battle with Louis Rogerson-Evans was a good one on Saturday evening.
