A one off, or the start of a trend?

Many would argue that little insight can be gained from a single game, but with week two now on the horizon, there's a second chance to examine some of the talking points from week one.

CoLA head back home to take on London Cavaliers, looking to right the ship from last weekend's loss to Worcester. Starting 0-2 would surely sound alarm bells for the defending champs, and WNBL fans will be interested to see how the Cavs fare after their win to start 2025/26.

Anglia Ruskin will also be looking to turn the tide and avoid an 0-2 start, but that won't be easy against Ipswich at Copleston, whilst last weekend's surprise package, London All Stars, will be trying to keep things going away to Bristol.

Goldsby spoke earlier this week about her move to the All Stars, and what factors influenced her to move to a new club after five years with the Cavs.

ARU embrace new opportunity against 'top three'

Anglia Ruskin's struggles against last season's 'top three' of CoLA, Ipswich and Brent were well-documented, going 0-6 against the trio to eventually finishing fourth with a 13-9 record.

The Cambridge side have their first chance to set that record straight for 2025/26, taking a trip to Suffolk for Ipswich's season opener on Saturday.

Ruskin standout Tia Freeman spoke about the match ups before the season began, saying: "Looking at how our pre-season has gone, I feel really positive about the potential we have to get some wins against the top teams this time around."

After a surprise opening weekend loss to London All Stars, ARU's plight to match D1W's top dogs now carries just a little extra pressure.
