Big early matchups

The season may have only just begun, but that doesn't mean choice fixtures can't be found on the early slate.

In Pool A, a pair of winners from the opening weekend, Leicester Warriors and Liverpool, go head-to-head in the Midlands.

The Warriors saw off Teesside 81-53 thanks to 19 points from Callum Keys, whilst Liverpool got the better of North West rivals St Helens 108-105 behind a Player of the Week performance from Dante Sofia.

Likewise, in Pool B there's a much-anticipated clash between Barking Abbey and CoLA Southwark Pride.

More than familiar with each other due to their frequent clashes in the EABL, the two programmes will both want to strike an early blow as Barking try to back up last weekend's 66-61 victory over Cobham, whilst CoLA are set for their season opener.

Richmond Knights and London Lions II are both getting underway as well, with neither team wanting to start their new campaign with an L against a local rival.

NBL National Cup

Hot off the heels of the last round, the NBL National Cup is back for more across the next three days.

There's an all-D1 clash this evening to start round two as local rivals Birmingham City University and Worcester Wolves go at it, whilst Exeter Spartans vs Cornwall Cougars is the only fixture on Saturday.

That leaves over 25 games to play out on Sunday, with plenty for basketball fans to look forward to.

Myerscough and St Helens Saints will light up the North West, Manchester Magic make the short trip to Manchester Spartans, and London Stars and London Thunder battle it out in the Capital.

Teesside Lions host Liverpool in another all-D1 contest, whilst Nottingham Hoods vs Leicester Warriors should provide plenty of entertainment in the Midlands.
