Below is a list of Player of the Week write ups covering who received our award and a little bit about their performance, plus quotes from the player themselves and their coach.

Demi Babalola - Manchester Magic (33P/10R/3S/40EFF)

Scoring at will on 77% shooting that included 3/4 from three-point range, Babalola netted a game-high 33 points to go with 10 rebounds, three steals and an assist in just 25:25 of action.

He said: "The game plan was to play fast and play aggressively as a team we executed that very well and will try to do the same in our upcoming games."

Manchester head coach Adam Morris added: "I thought the whole team were really mentally locked in throughout the game, especially on the defensive end.

"We expected a high-possession, fast-paced game. I'm really encouraged by the whole group's performance and bouncing back after the previous game."

Week 5 (06/11/2024)

Amarlie Wilkinson - Barking Abbey (19P/8A/4R/25EFF)

Amarlie Wilkinson helped his Barking side move to 3-0 with the standout performance in their 91-62 victory over previously undefeated JMA Reading Rockets.

Wilkinson shot an impressive 69% (9/13 FG) for his team-high 19 points, but he also turned provider with a game-high eight assists to get the best from those around him as well.

Four rebounds and a steal were a bonus as the young guard did his bit to keep the Londoners undefeated for another week.

Wilkinson said: "I am grateful for being selected as the Player of the Week. However, without my team-mates and coaches it wouldn’t have been possible.

"This is just a stepping stone to our team's ultimate goal. Watch out for more outstanding performances from our team as we continue to follow our process."

Barking head coach Rikki Broadmore added: "Amarlie had a great game against JMA, he controlled the contest and scored when he needed to and had an amazing defensive performance as well.

"He fully deserves to receive this award and I'm looking forward to how he develops over the rest of the season."

He said: “I am really grateful to receive Player of the Week and very proud of our team's performance and getting the win.

"I will continue trying to build off it and help lead the team all the way through."

Head coach Jay Williams added: "I am very proud of Bilal, he showed great leadership on and off the floor and when he is shooting the ball well it really helps."

Manchester's Fortune Iguma also had a 29 efficiency game this week, with 23 points and nine rebounds against Derby, but Bilal took the honour by racking up his impressive numbers in less court-time.

Week 7 (20/11/2024)

Jack Walton - Manchester Magic (26P/7R/5A/31EFF)

Walton led Manchester Magic to an 85-73 win over Charnwood College Riders, moving his team to the top of the North Conference.

The young GB guard did a bit of everything to help his team to victory, with a strong second-half showing at an impressive efficiency rating of 31.

Walton had a game-high 26 points, including four triples, dished out five assists and grabbed seven boards, all at the defensive end, as Magic moved to 3-1.

Week 8 (27/11/2024)

Junior Sanchez - Myerscough College (22P/8R/5S/26EFF)

Myerscough are also undefeated following a 71-54 win over North Conference rivals and reigning champions Charnwood in which Sanchez excelled.

He had 22 points, eight rebounds and five steals on 26 efficiency to lead his team to 3-0.

Sanchez said: "The team performance was great; we dominated and showed what we are capable of doing in the second half after a rough start. We showed resilience and came out with the dub.

"Winning Player of the Week without the team's effort would of never been possible."

Coach Lewis Scott said: "Junior has been working hard and took his solid performances from the EYBL into the domestic competition it's great that he is being recognised for his hard work."

Week 9 (04/12/2024)

Caiden Ross - Charnwood College Riders (26P/7R/7S/34EFF)

Charnwood College Riders picked up their third win of the season in the 86-66 road victory against SGS College.

Riders' standout Caiden Ross more than did his bit to get the W, including dropping a game-high 26 points on 62% shooting.

3/5 from beyond the arc was a bonus, with the Charnwood man adding a useful seven rebounds, seven assists and six steals to his afternoon's work.

A team-high five turnovers were perhaps the only blot on his copybook, but it was still a top outing worthy of recognition.

Speaking about the game, Ross said: "It was a good team performance and I'm glad that we executed the game plan and got back to winning ways."

Charnwood head coach Louis Chamberlain added: "Caiden stepped up on Wednesday and had a productive game. I'm happy that our last away game of the EABL year ended with a good team win."

An extra shoutout goes to CoLA's Daniel Banjoko (24pts, 6reb, 2ast, 5stl, 34eff), who recorded a similarly impressive stat line this week against Oaklands Wolves.

Week 10 (11/12/2024)

Gavin Mitchell - Oaklands Wolves (33P/18R/5B/34EFF)

Despite a slow start to the current season, Oaklands Wolves wouldn't be denied their first win of the season last Wednesday as they saw off Copleston High School 78-68.

A big reason for the outcome was the standout play of Gavin Mitchell, who dropped a stunning 33 points, 23 more than his next closest team mate.

Doing most of his work around the basket, the 6'6 forward went 13/24 from 2pt range, collecting 18 rebounds for a monster double-double.

Five blocks further highlighted his prowess down low, with a pair of assists for good measure.

Speaking about the performance, Mitchell said: "As a team, I feel like we executed the way Coach Jefferson wanted us to play and we played to our strengths.

"I’m grateful that the team found me in spots that I like to score from. I'm just happy that we were able to get our first win of the EABL season."

Oaklands head coach Liam Jefferson added: "I’m delighted for the team and for Gavin, for him to be recognised. As an extremely young team, we have been preaching growth and skipping no steps and Gavin has been the epitome of that on a day-to-day basis.

"This performance was no surprise based on the work he’s put in to date, and I’m exited for what he could reach this season."

Week 11 (18/12/2024)

Junior Sanchez - Myerscough College (16P/7R/10A/29EFF)

Myerscough head into 2025 unbeaten following their 109-52 victory over BMet City of Birmingham Rockets, and young standout Junior Sanchez enjoyed a near-triple double in the sizable win.

Sixteen points and 10 assists went with seven rebounds and five steals, demonstration Sanchez's value at both ends of the floor for the North Conference leaders.

Going 6/11 shooting (54%) showed his efficiency, and committing zero turnovers in 24:28 of action, whilst dishing double-digit assists, shows just how good Sanchez was on Wednesday afternoon.

Speaking about the performance, he said: "The team performance was outstanding; we went into the game knowing what we had to do and we handled business, showing that our whole roster is ready to compete.

"Winning Player of the Week without my team-mates, who encourage me to keep working every day, would not have been possible."

Myerscough head coach Neal Hopkins added: "We're really proud of Junior and his development and I know he will extend this award to his team-mates, especially Luan Ferreira who really sparked our energy.

"It was a great win and a fantastic performance by Junior and the rest of the guys."

Week 12 (08/01/2025)

Isaac Spurrier - JMA Reading Rockets (30P/15R/1B/36EFF)

Despite there only being two EABL games this week, JMA's Isaac Spurrier produced a performance against Copleston that would have been a worthy winner regardless.

With a game-high 30 points to go with a tied game-high 15 rebounds, his big double-double was enough to push the Rockets to an 80-59 road success, and their second win of the season.

Shooting 60% from the field was a bonus, as was his reliable 11/13 from the free-throw line as he was fouled a hefty eight times in the contest.

Speaking about the performance, he said: “It was important for us to get the win to bring confidence for us going into the second half of the season.

"Although it wasn’t our best performance, we did well when it mattered and I am happy I was able to help the team.”

JMA head coach Samit Nuruzade added: “Isaac has done really well this season and has put in a lot of good performances so it’s great he is being recognised for that alongside his teammates.”

Week 13 (15/01/2025)

Ronney Ani - Manchester Magic (20P/10R/3A/24EFF)

In one of the week's biggest games, the top of the North Conference clash between Manchester and Myerscough went the way of Magic, and Ronney Ani was a big reason for that outcome.

The talented guard had a game-high 20 points in the narrow 71-69 win, adding 10 rebounds and three assists for a great all-round performance.

Ani came alive in the final quarter, scoring 10 of his points to go with five boards and an assist, a huge contribution in what proved to be a one possession win.

Ani said: "Coming into the game, we knew we’d have to stay together as a team and it would be a dog fight to the very end of it.

"I’m glad we stuck to the plan and got the win under our belt. I’m happy to win the award and help my team move one step closer to our goals this season."

Manchester head coach Adam Morris added: "Ronney has been a part of our club for a long time, coming up through the age groups. The last two years he’s made an incredible jump and become a massive part of the success of our team this year.

"I couldn’t be happier for him to win this award."

Week 14 (22/01/2025)

Isaac Fiagbe - City of London Academy (23P/17R/3A/28EFF)

As CoLA continue to go toe-to-toe with unbeaten Barking Abbey in the South Conference, last year's playoff finalists need to reel off positive results until the London duo can meet once again.

That was no different this past Wednesday as CoLA went to Copleston and fended off an upset, coming through as 76-71 winners against a Suffolk programme who have won just once this season.

Isaac Fiagbe more than played his part in the win, with a team-high 23 points and a game-high 17 rebounds making for a monster double-double outing.

Shooting at 53% (8/15 FG) plus dishing three assists provided further value, and his +/- of +12 was second only to team mate Khyle Capanzana (+15).

Speaking about the performance, Fiagbe said: "Winning Player of the Week is a reflection of both the team’s hard work and my own drive.

"I focus on bringing energy on both ends of the floor, helping my teammates, grabbing boards, and finishing strong. It’s all about the collective effort, and we’re moving in the right direction."

City of London Academy - Southwark head coach Jay Williams added: "Isaac played with a real high energy throughout the game and really showed he has another gear he can play at, so I’m very happy for him and I’m sure he will continue to rebound and make his teammates better."

An honourable mention also goes to Copleston's Charlie Smythe for his 30-point, 13-rebound double-double in the same game, adding three assists and three steals in the losing effort.

Week 15 (29/01/2025)

Demi Babalola - Manchester Magic (28P/15R/6S/41EFF)

Manchester's title charge in the North stayed on course this week, but only just as they were run as close as possible by Derby Trailblazers, coming through with a 70-69 victory.

Demi Babalola was a man on a mission to keep Magic's quest on track. His 28 points and 15 rebounds were both game-highs, and with only Ronney Ani (11pts) joining the Manchester forward in double-digit scoring, Babalola's contributions were huge for his team.

Six steals showcased his ability at the other end of the court, and a pair of assists showed Babalola's eye for a pass as well.

It all resulted in a massive 41 efficiency outing, easily the highest of the week, and a worthy selection for the EABL's spotlight.

Babalola said: "I am grateful for the award and even though it was a tough game, I am proud of my team.

"We communicated really well and executed throughout the game. We hope to continue to do this as we reach the end of the season."

Manchester head coach Adam Morris added: "I'm incredibly happy for Demi winning this award. He showed, especially in the first half, just how dominant he can be.

"Demi is improving week-on-week and I hope he takes this confidence into our next game."

Week 16 (05/02/2025)

Demi Babalola - Manchester Magic (29P/5R/2A/31EFF)

A week after Demi Babalola dragged Manchester over the line in a one-point win over Derby, he was at it once again on Wednesday in the road tie with BMet City of Birmingham Rockets.

More comfortable winners this time, 88-80, the Manchester forward was once again his side's star man with a team-high 29 points to go with five rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Babalola, as is often the case, shot with terrific efficiency, knocking down 11/14 FGs that included a perfect 2/2 from three-point land.

Babalola said: “I am very grateful for the award again and very proud of our team for being calm and together throughout the game.

"We executed what we covered in practice and will try to do the same in our next game.”

Manchester head coach Adam Morris added: "Demi continues each week to improve his game and has shown, especially in the last few games, how much he can effect on both ends of the court.

"He should be very proud of his season so far, especially as a first year."

Week 17 (12/02/2025)

Lewis Malcolm - Charnwood College Riders (22P/14R/4A/38EFF)

In another huge clash at the top of the North Conference, honours went to Charnwood as they ended Manchester's title hopes with a crushing 100-72 final score.

The Riders had a chance to boost their playoff seeding, denting Magic's in the process and did just that thanks to a standout performance from Lewis Malcolm.

The Charnwood forward enjoyed game-highs in points (22) and rebounds (14), shooting 8/14 for an efficient outing.

Going 4/7 from beyond the arc showed Malcolm's wide skillset, as did four steals and four assists.

Speaking about the game, Malcolm said: "It was a dominant team win where everyone stepped up and was great to be able to put on display of what we are capable of as a team."

Charnwood head coach Louis Chamberlain added: "Lewis is having a great season and is continuing to work hard to progress himself and the team to the next level.

"We are all very proud of his development and congratulate him on getting this award."

Week 18 (26/02/2025)

Ethan Round - JMA Reading Rockets (28P/6A/4S/29EFF)

Whilst JMA Reading Rockets had nothing to play for on Wednesday, unable to move from their fourth spot in the EABL South, they still took the opportunity to get themselves on a roll ahead of a trip to Myerscough in the opening round of the playoffs.

Ethan Round helped them do just that, playing a huge role in their 94-92 victory against Oaklands Wolves.

Round stood tall for his side, shooting a game-high 23 attempts, hitting 47% of them for his team-high 28 points. His six assists were also a team-high, with four rebounds and four steals adding to his strong outing.

With the game on a knife edge, the Rockets' guard produced a steal, and a block and a basket in the final minute, helping the hosts to creep over the line.

Speaking about the game, Round said:  “I am very honoured to receive this award, and I am even happier to have been able to contribute to our team's win in a difficult game.

"I would like to thank my coaches and teammates for supporting and believing in me, and we are looking forward to carrying this momentum into the playoffs.”

JMA Assistant Coach Ben Fisher added:  “Ethan has had a magnificent season and in a really tough final game, he led the team to victory over a tough Oaklands outfit.

"I am thrilled for him as he deserves this accolade and I know he, along with his teammates, is very much looking forward to the post season.”

Honourable mentions also go to Oaklands' Dan Kostadinov (30pts, 32eff) and Gavin Mitchell (24pts, 16reb, 29eff) for their impressive performances in the Wolves' loss to JMA.

Week 19 (05/03/2025)

Amarlie Wilkinson - Barking Abbey (20P/10A/6R/37EFF)

With #1 seeds Barking Abbey wanting to start the playoffs with a bang, Amarlie Wilkson ensured they did just that with a stunning performance in his side's 99-53 victory against Derby Trailblazers.

Dropping 20 points (second most in the game) on 69% shooting, Wilkinson demonstrated his all round talent to add 10 assists plus six rebounds to what was already a good day at the office.

On defence, he swiped an impressive six steals and batted away a block, providing too much for Derby to cope with at both ends of the court.

Wilkinson said: "Coming into the playoffs we were prepared and ready to fight. Our team produced the exact way we wanted down to the last detail, which gave me the ability to achieve.

"Now we begin to prepare for the next game. Watch out for Barking Abbey!"

BA Head Coach Rikki Broadmore added: "Amarlie showed what a great leader he is for this team as we began the playoffs. He really set the tone, controlling the game from start to finish at both ends of the floor.

"I'm very happy with his performance, but next week is a new challenge. Charnwood is a strong team, and we will need another performance like the one against Derby to advance to the Final. I'm confident that he and the team will rise to the occasion!"

Week 20 (12/03/2025)

Lewis Obiorah - Barking Abbey (9P/21R/9B/31EFF)

Making it back-to-back awards for Barking Abbey in the playoffs after Amarlie Wilkson's nod in the Elite Eights, BA's Lewis Obiorah gets the call this time round with a stunning stat line in the 65-49 victory over Charnwood.

Amazingly, Obiorah only shot the ball four times in the contest, connecting on two of them whilst adding five more points from the foul line. It was his production elsewhere that earned him the weekly accolade, including an NBA 2K-esque 21 rebounds, that made up over a third of his side's total.

Nine blocks went with his nine points for a near triple-double, and Obiorah's 31 efficiency rating was no surprise.

Speaking about the game, Obiorah said: "It was a big win for the team, hopefully we can carry this momentum into the Final.

"I’m grateful to receive this award. Big thanks to my coach for pushing me through this game, and to my team for fighting with me."

Barking Abbey Head Coach Rikki Broadmore added: "I'm so happy that Lewis has won the Player of the Week award. This young man is special and has improved so much, day-by-day and game-by-game.

"He was incredible at both ends of the floor on Wednesday, played extended minutes, and was simply amazing!

"It was an incredible way to play his last EABL home game for us, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he will bring in the Final."

2023/24 season

Week 1 (11/10/2023)

Tim Oboh - The Canterbury Academy (27P/7R/27EFF)

With six games to choose from, there were plenty of candidates for the first Player of the Week of the new season.

Multiple players put together stat lines worthy of consideration, but only one player could be selected, and that honour went to The Canterbury Academy's Tim Oboh.

The talented forward was in dominant form in his side's 77-71 win over JMA Rockets, leading the way with a game-high 27 points.

That output came on a highly-efficient 9/14 shooting performance (64%), also tacking on seven boards, two steals and a block.

The Kent star held his nerve at the line as well, going 9/12 after being fouled seven times.

Following the performance, Oboh said: "I thank God, and I am especially grateful to my teammates for finding me at the right times.

"Lastly, I want to thank the coaches who were composed and gave me great advice. Hopefully this is one of many wins me and the guys can bring to Canterbury in the 'Final Crusade'."

Head coach Adam Davies added: "Tim had a fantastic summer and really put in the work to come back this season and be better.

"He showed in game one of the season he means business. Super proud of him on winning this award and the team for getting the win against a tough JMA team, everyone is playing for more than just themselves, we playing for the legacy of The Canterbury Academy."

Week 2 (18/10/2023)

Daniel Nwauzu - Myerscough College (30P/7R/25EFF)

With six games to sift through, there was a lot of choice for Player of the Week consideration.

In a closely run race between five players, the pick was made to award Myerscough's Daniel Nwauzu with this week's accolade.

The talented guard played a major part in helping 'Sco pick up a key road win against Derby Trailblazers, with the North West programme coming through as 92-82 winners.

Heading into the 4th up 65-60, Myerscough were able to snuff out any prospect of a DTB comeback, as Nwauzu dropped 13 of his side's first 15 points in the frame. An 80-65 deficit with 5:21 remaining would then prove too much for the hosts to overcome.

Nwauzu would close with 30 points in 30:45 of action, adding seven boards. He also went a stunning 6/9 from downtown, including back-to-back-to-back triples in that dagger fourth quarter stretch.

Following the contest, Nwauzu said: "As a team, coming off of a loss last week, I feel like we came into this game with the right mindset to get a win.

"We did well to hit our shots and find easy baskets while also doing what we needed to defensively."

Head coach Troy Culley added: "Over the past month, Daniel has truly elevated his game on the court. His consistent performances in the NBL Division 2 and his pivotal role in our academy matchups really highlight the positive start he has had to this season.

"As his coach, I'm eager to see what happens next."

Week 3 (01/11/2023)

Daniel Nwauzu - Myerscough College (22P/14R/1A/28EFF)

Despite only being three weeks into the new season, we already have a repeat winner in the shape of Myerscough's Danieil Nwauzu.

Much like his performances in week two against Derby, the talented guard was once again on point to help his team get a valuable win, this time against SGS College.

Coming through 88-73, Nwauzu once again did his bit, closing with a game-high 22 points on 10/19 shooting, adding 13 boards for the double-double.

That mix of efficiency and scoring also meant the 'Sco man finished the week with the highest efficiency across the EABL with a finally tally of 28.

Following the win, Nwauzu said: "One through twelve, everyone came into the game and contributed to our win, which made the game more exciting and enjoyable to play in, and to watch.

"The whole team passed the ball well, especially on the fast break where a large number of our points came from."

Head coach Troy Culley added: "I'm impressed to see Daniel secure another Player of the Week award.

"His dedication this year is evident, his performances clearly show the effort he's investing, and the example he wants to set for his teammates."

Week 4 (08/11/2023)

Tim Oboh - The Canterbury Academy (31P/15R/3S/40EFF)

It was always going to need something special to break Daniel Nwauzu's hold on the EABL award after his back-to-back wins, but last Wednesday produced just that in the South East.

Against defending champions Barking Abbey, Canterbury's Tim Oboh went off, playing a major role in securing an 89-77 victory for his programme.

The Team England forward was in sparkling form, dropping a game-high 31 points on a highly efficient 12/16 shooting performance, adding 15 boards, another game-high, for a sizable double-double.

Three steals helped the team's cause on defence and drawing six fouls meant Oboh spent plenty of time at the line, draining 7/8 shots from the charity stripe to make BA pay.

Another repeat winner after Oboh's EABL award in week one, the Canterbury forward said: "Firstly, I want to give all the glory to God. I also want to thank my teammates and coaches, since I could never have done this without them.

It was great to bounce back from our previous game, and as a team we look to continually improve."

Canterbury head coach Adam Davies added: "I'm happy for Tim to pick up his second Player of the Week award in three games.

"I'm super proud of the programme for once again showcasing that it can compete with the best and develop great players to a high standard.

"This is our Final Crusade in the league, Tim along with his teammates and our staff are making it a fun one."

Week 5 (15/11/2023)

Ludlow Hewson - The Canterbury Academy (29P/5R/4S/21EFF)

The Canterbury Academy are enjoying a strong start to the season in the South conference, and it's no surprise to see them providing plenty of contenders for the EABL weekly awards.

After a second win of the season for Tim Oboh last week, it's the turn of another Crusaders to get the nod in week five, with Ludlow Hewson stepping to the fore.

Hewson played the full 40 minutes in the 68-63 road win against Itchen, scoring a game-high 29 points and making a huge difference in a low-scoring contest.

Hitting five triples, the Kent standout also pulled down five rebounds, dished a pair of assists, nabbed four steals and was fouled seven times for a final efficiency rating of 21

After the game, Hewson said: "I’m very grateful to be receiving this award , super proud of how the guys responded after being down at the half, and their ability to stay relaxed and make plays in such a pressured environment.

"Credit goes to the coaches who recreate this pressured atmosphere every time we step on court , and is what I believe helped us come out on top."

Canterbury head coach Adam Davies added: "Ludlow fully deserves this award. He put the team on his back at times and carried us.

"At the end of the first period he hit two huge threes to help build confidence, then in the third made some big baskets to narrow the difference after being down as much as 12.  Then in the fourth he took two chargers down the stretch, putting his body on the line for the team.

"These awards also mean a lot to the programme, confirming that we must be doing something right for player development and preparing athletes to perform at a high level."

Week 6 (22/11/2023)

Isaac Round - JMA Reading Rockets (30P/7R/6A/29EFF)

There were many contenders for POTW in the EABL this week, with more double-doubles than you can shake a stick at, including Larry Duru's for the BMet Rockets, who recorded their first win of the season, and a buzzer-beating performance from 'Sco's Lewis Smith to take down Manchester Magic.

But the plaudits have been given to JMA's Isaac Round for his 30-point strong arming of Itchen College, as JMA beat the South coast outfit 88-73

In nearly 35 minutes of play, Round also recorded seven rebounds, six assists, three steals and one block, giving him an efficiency of 29.

JMA are now third in the South standings on six points, and will no doubt be buoyed by Round's professionalism to push on and close the gap between them and the league leaders Canterbury Academy.

Round said:

“Wednesday was a good chance for me to be aggressive and my teammates had trust in me to get to the basket and score. Hopefully, I can keep taking the opportunities given, whether that’s scoring more or looking to create for others.”

Week 7 (29/11/2023)

Tim Oboh - The Canterbury Academy (39P/21R/4S/55EFF)

No stranger to this award, or to big performance this season, Canterbury's Tim Oboh is a man on a mission.

Copleston had no answer for the talented forward in week seven, with Oboh playing a major role in the 96-72 win.

Putting together a massive 39 point, 21 rebound double-double, Oboh even found time to dish two assists and nab four steals in his 31:12 of action.

Shooting with both volume and efficiency (17/24 FG, 70%),  it was no surprise that the Canterbury man ended the day with a staggering 55 efficiency rating.

Speaking about his performance, Oboh said: "As always, I give all glory to the Most High.

"I'm also truly blessed to have great teammates and coaches who continue to support me. Every win is a joint effort, and we're pleased we could make another statement for the 'Final Crusade'."

Canterbury head coach Adam Davies added: “Tim had an outstanding performance against Copleston and I’m pleased he has picked up another POTW award.

"His attitude to be better each day and receptiveness to coaching is one of his great attributes, which allows him to keep getting better and better.

"These awards are also a testament to his teammates who help Tim along the way to these big performances and wins.

"I’m also super proud of the programme and the platform given to allow them to develop and deliver these types of performances."

Week 8 (06/12/2023)

Edward Onyia - Charnwood College Riders (24P/15R/4A/29EFF)

With five players putting up 29 efficiency performances or higher this week, picking a winner was tough going.

After much deliberating, Charnwood's Edward Onyia was the man who got the nod, turning in a top tier effort in a key contest at the top of the North Conference.

The Riders made a statement of intent for claiming the North title with an 83-74 victory over rivals Myerscough, and Onyia's fingerprints were all over the W.

A 24 point, 15 rebound double-double went with four assists as the talented forward also draw six fouls before draining 5/6 shots from the stripe.

With eight points and a pair of assists in the third quarter, Onyia would help ensure his team went into the final quarter with a four point lead, one they'd hold on to to complete the season double over 'Sco.

Speaking about the performance, Onyia said: "It was a great game. We worked hard, came prepared and delivered as a team with many contributions.

"I’m blessed to have such good teammates, and staff, that were there to support each other during the ups and downs of the game.

"I’m honestly glad we came out on top, and I’m truly grateful to be selected as the POTW."

Charnwood head coach Louis Chamberlain added: "Edward is truly a team-first player, and goes into every game wanting to do his bit to help the team perform.

"I'm very proud of our team performance against a tough Myerscough side, and thought Edward made some timely shots when we needed him to in the 4th quarter.

"He's worked really hard on his game over the last few weeks, so it's awesome to see him get recognised!"

Week 9 (13/12/2023)

Tyrese Lacey - Myerscough College (18P/8A/6S/31EFF)

With North leaders Charnwood done until 2024, Myerscough had the opportunity to draw level at the top this week and did just that thanks to a 96-65 victory over Derby.

With games in hand that could take them up into the mix for top spot, only the Trailblazers lack of action was keeping them out of the title conversation going into Wednesday's clash in 'Sco.

Tyrese Lacey put a dent in those hopes though with a stunning outing that earned him Player of the Week honours.

Lacey was highly efficient throughout the contest, sinking 7/8 shots that included a perfect 5/5 from 2pt range. Eight assists and six steals also demonstrated a two-way playmaking presence, leading all players in both categories.

A final efficiency rating of 31 was the highest of the week across the league, providing yet another tick against the GB man's credentials for this week.

Speaking about the performance, Lacey said: "This week was a very good overall team performance, there was a lot of contributions from the bench as well as high intensity defence which allowed us to play our type of basketball.

"It was a good win to end this half of the year, and we will be looking to carry this energy and intensity over to the following half of the season."

Myerscough head coach Troy Culley added: "Ty's all-round performances have been a key factor in our team's success this season. I'm really pleased that his hard work and consistency are being recognised with the Player of the Week award.

"It's a well-deserved accolade, and I'm excited to see how he continues to contribute and grow when we restart in the New Year."

Week 10 (10/01/2024)

No award given.

Week 11 (17/01/2024)

Isaac Round - JMA Reading Rockets (35P/9R/9A/43EFF)

There was a South Conference battle between Oaklands and JMA this week that brought out the best in plenty of players, but none more so than Reading guard Isaac Round.

The talented shooter went off in the 80-76 road win, lighting up the scoreboard and filling the stat sheet.

Round nailed six threes on his way to a 35 point outing, the most of any player across the EABL this week, to go with nine boards and nine assists.

Five steals demonstrated Round's value on the defensive end, and he was worth every bit of his 43 efficiency rating.

Speaking about the performance, Round said: "Yesterday’s game was a really hard fought win for us. As a team we remained resilient, and that allowed me to make some big plays down the stretch to help get us over the line.

"Hopefully this can give us momentum for the rest of the season to keep this level of competitiveness."

JMA head coach Samit Nuruzade added: "Isaac had a great game yesterday. His shooting from the three point line was amazing, and when he was guarded closely he managed to get to the free throw line.

"Most importantly for me, he showed very good leadership qualities. At the end of the game, when our team was struggling on offence, he demanded the ball and ran the team.

"I'm happy for him to be recognised as Player of the Week."

Week 12 (24/01/2024)

Isaac Round - JMA Reading Rockets (28P/8R/14A/40EFF)

There were plenty of great games across the EABL this week, though one performance stood out amongst the crowd as JMA claimed a strong home win against defending champs Barking Abbey.

The 100-90 contest was as high-scoring as it was exciting, with Rockets' captain Isaac Round putting together a great outing.

His 28 points included four triples, adding a stunning 14 assists and eight rebounds to narrowly miss out on a deserved triple-double.

With a +10 +/- in a ten point win, Round was worth every bit of his 40 efficiency rating as a worthy POTW winner.

Speaking about the performance, Round said: “This was a very important game for us. Barking play with a lot of intensity on defence, and yet we managed to play some of our best offence this season.

"I was able to find my teammates when needed who made some great plays, both at the rim and beyond the arc.”

JMA assistant coach Ben Fisher added: “I am absolutely thrilled our guys put in the performance they did and managed to get a really impressive win over a very tough Barking team.

"The group has been progressing well over the last few weeks and have worked hard to turn close losses into wins. Although we have lots more to work on, the signs are really good as we head into the business end of the season.

"Myself and Coach Samit loved the player's competitive spirit and we will need that going into the final three games as we hunt down a play-off spot.”

Week 13 (31/01/2024)

Mou Wol-Cummings - City of London Academy (24P/8R/5A/31EFF)

It was always going to take something special to slow down Canterbury's pace at the top of the South conference, but this week City of London Academy - Southwark did just that with a stunning 72-66 OT victory.

A big reason for the win was CoLA captain Mou Wol-Cummings, who produced throughout the contest to drag his team to a vital three points.

The CoLA guard shot an efficient 6/10 from the floor and went a perfect 11/11 from the line to close with a game-high 24 points, adding eight boards and five assists to his team's cause.

A +/- of +14 was also impressive, and his 31 efficiency was one of the highest of the week across the EABL.

Speaking about the performance, Wol-Cummings said: "I am grateful to be awarded Player of the week. Although it’s an individual award, for me it feels like more of a team award because of the many contributions.

"Both in regulation and in an overtime game like that, everyone needs to do their job to come away with the win. So I’m grateful for all my teammates and how they fought.

"We are looking forwards now and continuing to work hard and we will see what happens. "

CoLA head coach Jay Williams added: "Mou, as the captain, has always led from the front and doing what ever it takes for his team.

"On Wednesday he was really locked in and he and his team have come away with a crucial win against a very good Canterbury team in overtime."

Week 14 (07/02/2024)

Isaac Round - JMA Reading Rockets (30P/11R/12A/32EFF)

In what is becoming somewhat of a routine since the turn of the year, the EABL Player of the Week award is once again heading to Reading.

JMA Reading Rockets have won four in a row as they make a march for the playoffs, and a major reason for those successes has been the play of captain Isaac Round.

The JMA sharpshooter has picked up two of the last three awards and now it's three in four following Wednesday's 86-74 W against Copleston.

Round had an EABL-best 30 points, adding 11 boards and 12 assists for the triple-double, tacking on a pair of steals for good measure.

His 32 efficiency afternoon was another strong performance from the young guard, with Reading moving to 6-5 in the process.

Speaking about the game, Round said: “We are very happy with our performances over the past few weeks despite the injuries within our team. Some of the guys have really stepped up and made a difference, and hopefully we can keep playing some great basketball going into the playoffs.”

JMA assistant coach Ben Fisher added: “Isaac has really stepped up his level this season and has been super influential in our turnaround of late.

"He is a fantastic talent and we are thrilled with how he is leading our team, including a great triple-double!”

Week 15 (21/02/2024)

Tyrese Lacey - Myerscough College (25P/11R/10A/33EFF)

After doing his bit to help Myerscough keep the pressure on rivals Charnwood at the top of the North conference, our latest EABL winner comes from 'Sco's ranks.

Pushing his side through to a 79-72 victory against playoff-chasing Manchester, a triple-double performance from Tyrese Lacey was enough to earn him the nod.

25 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists made Lacey a constant thorn in Magic's side, shooting 52% from the floor to go with two steals for good measure.

His 33 efficiency was the joint-highest of the week and helping his side to pick up a key win against a tough opponent was enough to tip the scales.

Speaking about the game, Lacey said: "I was really pleased with how well we as a team were composed and maintained the lead down the stretch.

"We had a real good contribution from Emmanuel (Hezekiel) and Lewis (Smith) on both sides of the floor, as well as my duo, Daniel Nwauzu, giving us a double-double in points and rebounds.

"Overall it was a real good, intense game and I am glad we were able to come out with the win."

Myerscough head coach Troy Culley added: "Ty Lacey's recognition as Player of the Week is certainly well-earned.

"Currently leading the league in assists and steals, and ranking impressively in efficiency and points, Ty consistently showcases his all-round game and the overall impact he brings each time he steps on the floor.

"He's not just a statistical leader; he's a true leader for our team and this award is nice recognition for his hard work and dedication to our programme.

"We're certainly proud of Ty and are excited to see him continue to grow as we round out the regular season."

Week 16 (28/02/2024)

Edward Onyia - Charnwood College Riders (40P/9R/2A/42EFF)

Charnwood are just a win away from claiming the North Conference, with their latest victory coming after a 98-49 triumph over BMET City of Birmingham Rockets.

The top vs bottom clash got out of hands due to a stunning 40 point effort from Edward Onyia, who repeatedly found a way to hurt the Rockets on offence, shooting at a 65% clip that included 4/6 from beyond the arc.

Doing his damage in just 27:57 of action, Onyia also added nine boards and two assists to his 42 efficiency outing, impressing as the playoffs move into view.

Speaking about the game, Onyia said: "I’m very honoured to be receiving this award again, I’m thankful that my hard work has been showing through in games and I want to keep putting in the work and getting better."

Charnwood head coach Louis Chamberlain added: "It was a huge performance from Edward in the last game against Birmingham.

"He showed his versatility with both an inside and outside presence. It was a pleasure to witness his 40 point performance from the sideline."
