NBL D1 & National Cup Recap (26/27 Sep 2026) - Live Stats, streaming, quotes and more

Defending Pool A champs Worcester Wolves slipped to another league defeat as they fell to 0-2 before getting dumped out of the cup by D2 Milton Keynes Breakers II on Sunday.

That leaves Myerscough, St Helens and Manchester at the front of the pack for now, with the Magic producing a commanding away win over BCU on Saturday.

In Pool B,  Oaklands installed themselves into the title conversation with a narrow road win over last season's challengers Barnet, and defending D1M champs Solent got their defence up and running with a win over Richmond.

Standout performances

St Helens claimed a see-saw battle with Worcester, grabbing their second win of the season 77-71 behind a strong showing from Ben Tew.

After knocking off the Wolves themselves a week ago, BCU couldn't follow up that performance as they fell 89-70 at home to Manchester Magic, with Fortune Iguma nailing 5/6 from long-range for the visiting Magic.

Oaklands went to 2-0 in their debut D1M season, beating Barnet Bulldogs 71-69. Overcoming a 20-8 third frame that erased a lead that had reached 14 points early in the contest, Oaklands held on for the win thanks to Milo Sigmund's double-double.

Logan Ryan's monster 50 points helped another newly promoted side, Tees Valley Mohawks to a win, besting Liverpool 107-84, with Sussex Storm also getting off the mark, knocking off CoLA 76-65.

Two Pool B title runners from a year ago, Barking and Solent, both survived scares, with BA erasing a five-point fourth quarter deficit to beat Cobham 60-59, whilst Louis Weaver and Wayne Kitenge combined for 33 points off the Solent bench to help the Kestrels past Richmond 83-77.

Greenwich Titans announced the signing of D1M all-time scoring leader Bode Adeluola this weekend, but his 16 points couldn't help the Titans past London Elite, with a 89-83 final score.

What does it mean for the standings? 

Oaklands, Barking and surprise package London Elite sit atop Pool B at 2-0, with Solent poised to potentially join them after their opening win on Saturday.

The top of Pool A is dominated by the North West, with Myerscough, Manchester and St Helens all sat at 2-0. Last season's regular-season champs Worcester are now at 0-2 with a road trip to Gloucester City Kings on the horizon for next week, and Cardiff and Sheffield Arrows remain the two D1M teams yet to start their campaign.

Player-of-the-week candidates 

Ryan's 50 points were a stunning output, but without full stats it's hard to know where he sits in the pecking order for weekly honours.

Sigmund's 19/11 double-double was a big output in a tough road assignment for Oaklands, hitting 5/7 from 3pt land to sweeten the deal, and similarly Iguma (28pts, 5reb, 4stl 5/6 3pt) and Nathan Brown (26pts, 4reb, 3ast) brought their A game to help Manchester down Sam Toluwase (29pts, 11reb) and BCU.

Gloucester City's Jamie Cummins (21pts) and Leicester's Zeke Sinkala (28pts, 5/7 3pt) had a great back-and-forth in the Kings' narrow victory over the Warriors, and last week's Team of the Week pick Olivier Esingle (22pts, 5reb, 3ast) kept Myerscough unbeaten with another strong performance.

Sussex's Malachi Boakye-Yiadom (31pts, 6reb, 4stl), CoLA's Alei Wol (17pts, 18reb), Richmond's Peter Asante (23pts, 8reb, 8ast), Solent's Wayne Kitenge (15pts, 11reb, 4ast) and St Helens' Ben Tew (15pts, 6reb) also put together solid outings across the weekend.

NBL National Cup

Round 2 of the NBL National Cup is mostly in the books, though not all of D1M's participants made it safely through.

Worcester went down 86-60 on the road in Milton Keynes, with young star Kalvin Oates (18pts) leading the way for the hosts.

Richmond Knights also crashed out, losing 69-68 against another D2 outfit, London United. Jordan Gray (22pts) top scored for the visitors, cancelling out 20 from Richmond's Lebron Roach.

Elsewhere, other D1M sides didn't have the same issue, with the likes of Liverpool, St Helens, Cobham Cobras, Leicester, Sussex Storm, BCU, Manchester and more all safely through to the next round.

A special shoutout also goes to Worthing Thunder & Bears standout Brendan Goods as he dropped another 50-pointer from across the weekend, helping side to beat Gravesend Spartans 86-58.
