WNBL D1 Preview (26/27 Sep 2026) - Live Stats, streaming, quotes and more

After the 2026/27 got underway last weekend, teams are looking to build some momentum across the first month of the season.

Two winners from opening weekend, Barking and CoLA, go head-to-head, defending champs Anglia Ruskin are at home to last season's league winners London Cavaliers, reigning Player of the Week Chantelle Okoli and Milton Keynes host London All Stars.

Bragging rights in the Capital

CoLA head to Barking this weekend with both teams looking to build on a victory.

Barking surprised Bristol with a lopsided 80-32 victory, and CoLA eased past London All Stars 63-55, both moving to 1-0 in the process.

BA sent Shaliyah Sutherland to the Team of the Week for her part in that home win, though CoLA had a representative of their own in the form of Monife Abidekun and the battle between that duo this weekend is sure to be great viewing.

Given Pride's status in the D1W hierarchy, they head into the weekend as favourites against their newly promoted hosts, but the game will no doubt provide a good yard stick for the early progress of both programmes and what fans can expect in the coming months.

Stopping the trend

Worcester, Manchester, London All Stars and Bristol Flyers are all involved this weekend after picking up losses last time out.

No team wants to start the year 0-2 and feel they're playing catch up, placing extra importance on a good showing this weekend.

Manchester head to Worcester to face the Wolves in a battle of the 0-1s, and London All Stars will test out MK's D1W credentials after the Breakers impressive win against Worcester.

New Bristol coach Jesse Sazant spoke this week about about getting his Flyers side back to full strength and the team's aims for the season. Their quest takes another step this weekend with a home tie against former D2 side East London Phoenix, who will be playing their first-ever D1W contest.
