A snapshot of progress in this quarter
- We now have an internal dashboard collating data from PlayHQ specifically relating to the EDI questions that are completed during annual registration and through programmes that are managed through PlayHQ. The data is detailed and reliable, therefore we can collate data sets, demonstrating gaps and where we are progressing across all protected characteristics.
- The Special Olympics GB Basketball National Games were held at the National Basketball Performance Centre with support from the BE team. We are now engaging in conversations to discuss how we can work together on developing competitive and recreational opportunities for the SOGB community.
- We will be launching new programmes by the end of 2026 focusing on bringing more women and girls to basketball through playing and officiating.
- We are now a member of Inclusive Employers, which will enable us to provide EDI training and education for BE staff and members.
Focus for the next quarter
- Writing the annual review of EDI at Basketball England, reflections on the first year of the DIAP and objectives for 2026-2027.
To note:
The DIAP year will now run from September to August each year in line with the season.
Q1 September – November
