Become a member

If you are a coach or official and your memberships in PlayHQ is currently pending, there are a number of common reasons why your profile might be this way.

Listed below are the requirements for a full membership, and the steps you need to take to fulfil each of these requirements.

Until your membership is full, you are unable to coach or officiate in Basketball England competitions and affiliated competitions.

Requirements for a full Membership

Your membership will only become active once all of the following are complete:

  • ID verification
  • Qualification in role (Coach, Referee, Table Official, or Statistician)
  • Safeguarding training (for coaches and officials aged 18+)
  • DBS check (for coaches and officials aged 16+)

Below are details for each requirement.

ID Verification

  • Go to your PlayHQ profile: PlayHQ Profile
  • Scroll to Profile Verification → Check if your ID is marked as verified.

If your ID is not verified:

Submit a photo of your passport via the Basketball England Contact Form.

  • Under “What is your enquiry regarding?” select Passport/Docs.
  • A member of our team will verify your ID.

Qualifications & Safeguarding Training

  • Check your accreditations: PlayHQ Accreditations
  • Ensure all qualifications (including safeguarding training) are listed correctly.

If you have more than one qualification and all your qualifications are missing:

The likely cause of this is that your previous profile was unable to be merged with your new PlayHQ profile.

To resolve this:

  • Go to PlayHQ:?PlayHQ Profile. Once logged in click on the Registration History
  • If there is no history displaying, you have not claimed your previous profile.
  • Go to the Profile page.
  • Scroll to Find My Profiles.
  • Complete the search and claim any existing profiles.
  • If this does not return any matches, submit a request to have your old profiles merged via the Basketball England Contact Form. Under “What is your enquiry regarding?” select Membership
  • In your message, include the name on your PlayHQ profile and your old A number from your previous profile.

If one or some of your qualifications are incorrect or missing:

  • Email [email protected] with details of the qualifications that are missing (include certificates if possible).

For officials on Level 2 Referee/Table Official courses:

  • If you’ve completed everything except your practical game assessments, but you have no qualification listed, email [email protected]
  • We will issue a temporary Level 1 qualification.

Safeguarding training:

  • Must be current for all coaches and officials aged 18+.
  • If expired, register here: Safeguarding Training.

DBS Check

Currently, you cannot view your DBS status in PlayHQ.

  • If you needed one when you registered, you would have received an email from KnowYourPeople to begin your application.
  • Should you still need to confirm your DBS status listed on PlayHQ, contact us via the Basketball England Contact Form. Under “What is your enquiry regarding?” select Membership
  • If you have an enhanced DBS from a different provider, you will need to show this to a DBS verifier. More information can be found by emailing [email protected]
