NBL D1 Preview (19/20 Sep 2026) - Live Stats, streaming, quotes and more

Last season's beaten finalists Worcester Wolves start the season on Friday night as the Pool A winners host another top-four side from a year ago Birmingham City University.

That tie forms part of four games from Pool A that also includes a North West clash between Myerscough and Liverpool.

In Pool B there's five games to go at, including two newly promoted sides, Oaklands Wolves and Sussex Storm, going head-to-head, but defending D1M champs Solent Kestrels don't play until next weekend.

In the list below, a * is for Pool A games, and a + is for Pool B games.

Solent Kestrels claimed last season's D1M title

Friday night start for Wolves BCU

Worcester topped Pool A a year ago and made it to the playoff final but further success in the coming season will have to come without last year's Pool A MVP Earl Burgess. 

That loss could be BCU's gain on Friday night as the returning Reiss Faure-Daley and Ronald Oberia try to get an early leg up on their title rivals.

The Wolves only lost five times across their 22 league games in 2025/26, but one of them was away to BCU, a 76-73 early-season thriller in mid-October.

You wouldn't be against a similar contest to get D1M underway in style.

New ins and outs

Elvisi Dusha, Jules Dang-Akodo and Martyn Gayle's addition to D1M newbies Gloucester City Kings makes them an entertaining prospect, whilst Myerscough will need to navigate the loss of Zach Trezvant, Junior Sanchez and Harry Sheehan if they're to repeat their 2025/26 successes.

Last season's top-scorer Hamza Ibrahim returns with Diogo Soares to the Arrows as they try to crack the top four this time round, and Disreali Lufadeju and Connor Murtagh both head up St Helens' roster.

Solent have retained their MVP in Andre Arissol, but Luke Busumbru, Ethan Round and Greg Durand have all moved on to pastures new for the Kestrels.

Barnet were strong challengers a year ago and have retained the services of Sable Cooper and Chuck Duru, and Barking will try to keep themselves in the mix with a largely unchanged roster.

Kane Daley and Reis Pinnock both return alongside new addition Callum Vines to make promoted Oaklands Wolves an interesting challenger in Pool B after their unbeaten 2025/26 season in D2.
