NBL D1 Recap (3/4 Oct 2026) - Live Stats, streaming, quotes and more

The D1M pecking order is beginning to take shape as sides work through their early-season schedules.

Solent continued their title defence with a win against London Elite but the lone unbeaten side in Pool B along with the Kestrels are newly promoted Oaklands Wolves, who sit atop the standings at 3-0 and look the real deal after their win over Barking Abbey.

After missing the playoffs a year ago, St Helens have started 3-0 to provide their fans with early hope of a successful campaign, joining another pair of North West sides, Manchester Magic and Myerscough, as early frontrunners in Pool A.

In the list below, a * is for Pool A games, and a + is for Pool B games.

Standout performances

20 points from Disraeli Lufadeju and holding their opponents to just 48 points allowed St Helens to pick up their third win of the season, knocking off BCU 60-48.

Worcester's early season struggles remain, with last season's Pool A champs still searching for a maiden win as they went down 83-46 against D1 rookies Gloucester City Kings.

A 32-21 opening frame set the platform for Manchester's 91-67 derby win over Liverpool, with Myerscough also keeping pace following their near tip-to-buzzer 82-70 W against Sheffield Arrows.

There was no 50-point outing for Logan Ryan this week but Tees Valley still found a way past Sheffield Sharks II 88-67, and Cardiff took their season opener against a spirited Leicester Warriors, winning 81-77 despite a big day from Leicester's Zewe Sinkala.

In Pool B, Oaklands just keep on rolling as they made it three-in-a-row with a low-scoring 64-55 win on the road against Barking.

Solent ended London Elite's unbeaten start to the season with a heat check 89-54 W, claiming all four quarters as Elite sorely missed early standout Tyler Fairbairn.

Barnet came through their battle with CoLA 95-59, and Richmond Knights have their first win of 2026/27 as they erased a 54-48 fourth quarter deficit to stun Cobham Cobras 77-73.

What does it mean for the standings?

The top of Pool A is a three-way tie between Myerscough, Manchester and St Helens, with the trio sat at 3-0.

Gloucester City Kings (2-0) remain close behind, but it's been a slow start to the season for 2025/26 challengers BCU (1-2) and Worcester Wolves (0-3), as Sheffield Arrows, Leicester, Sheffield Sharks II and Liverpool are also winless.

Oaklands sit atop Pool B at 3-0, with defending champs Solent close behind at 2-0.

There's plenty of quality jostling further back, with London Lions II, Barnet, London Elite and Barking Abbey all sat at 2-1.

Player-of-the-week candidates

He didn't have the points this week but Tees Valley's Logan Ryan (20pts, 9reb, 7ast) neared triple-double territory instead in his side's win over Sheffield Sharks II.

Cardiff duo Takeshi Croke (22pts, 6reb, 12ast) and Ben Woog (21pts, 17reb) both shone as the Archers downed Zewe Sinkala (28pts, 3reb) and the Leicester Warriors, and Sable Cooper (27pts, 7reb) was the star man for Barnet against CoLA as team mate Cyrus Cato splashed six threes for his 20 points.

Manchester forward Daniel Davies (18pts, 21reb) had a huge double-double to counter Liverpool's Jani Griffith (31pts, 10reb), and 24 points off the Myerscough bench from Daniel Okhuoya helped the Pool A challengers past Sheffield Arrows.

Dwayne Orija (26pts, 6reb) nailed 7/10 from beyond the arc for Richmond on Sunday, edging past Cobham's Charlie Ollis (22pts, 11reb) who went 6/9 himself as the pair shot the lights out in Surrey.

The weekend wrapped with Karl Teesdale's well-rounded 24-point, six-assist, five steal effort for Gloucester City against Worcester, keeping the Wolves winless in the process.
