How it works

Each week, a standout player plus four other worthy selections will be put forward to make the Player and Team Of The Week in both D1M and D1W, paying attention to the following criteria:

  • Efficiency
  • Stats
  • Team and opposition strength
  • Periods of influence in the game
  • Being on a winning team (exceptional performances from players on losing teams will be considered for TOTW)

Players of the Week

There's no big surprises from this duo, given their outputs this weekend.

Sofia was the catalyst for a stunning 2OT Liverpool win over St Helens in the North West derby. With a joint-top score of 21 points, and team-highs for efficiency and rebounds, he was a big reason the hosts secured a 108-105 victory, plus local bragging rights to boot.

Likewise, Montgomery was the standout in an unexpected Worcester win over defending champs CoLA Southwark Pride. Bagging 16 points across the final 15 minutes of play (regulation and OT), the American dropped a game-high 31 points overall in the 72-61 victory, adding six rebounds and three assists for a stellar debut.

D1M Team of the Week

Dante Sofia - Liverpool (21pts, 15reb, 5ast, 3stl, 29eff)

Ryan Martin - London Stars (20pts, 17reb, 9ast, 2blk, 32eff)

Nojus Zajankauskas - London Stars (19pts, 7reb, 7ast, 2stl, 30eff)

Jack Walton - Manchester Magic (22pts, 5reb, 5ast, 4stl, 24eff)

Connor Murtagh - St Helens Saints (36pts, 9reb, 3stl, 28eff)

POTW Sofia helms the first Team of the Week of the new season, and is joined by a pair of London Stars in the form of Ryan Martin and Nojus Zakankauskas after their exploits in the 95-70 win over London Elite.

Manchester's Jack Walton did a bit of everything against Oxford Hoops, stuffing the stat sheet in the process, and Connor Murtagh overcomes being on a losing team to still make the grade after his stunning 36-point performance couldn't be ignored.

D1W Team of the Week

Ciani Montgomery- Worcester Wolves (31pts, 6reb, 3ast, 31eff)

Chinwe Iwunze - London Cavaliers (26pts, 13reb, 2ast, 4stl, 26eff)

Kat Goldsby - London All Stars (19pts, 6reb, 2ast, 5stl, 20eff)

Eri Bukoye - Worcester Wolves (15pts, 14reb, 22eff)

Ayla Habbal - CoLA Southwark Pride (28pts, 11reb, 6ast, 5stl, 29eff)

POTW Montgomery is joined by team mate Eri Bukoye as the Wolves grab a double up following their win over CoLA, with Bukoye recording a useful double-double in the 72-61 win.

Chinwe Iwunze is straight into the Team of the Week in her D1W return, doing the damage with a team-high for points, rebounds and efficiency in the Cavs' 76-59 W over Bromsgrove.

Iwunze's former team mate Kat Goldsby may have changed scenery this off-season but she remains as talented as ever and nabs a spot in the five after helping London All Stars to down ARU 68-57.

The line up is rounded out by CoLA's Ayla Habbal, who balled out in her side's OT loss to Worcester with team-highs in points, rebounds, assists, steals and efficiency.
